I had never thought about the rational (to use the skin of a food animal) expressed by before, but it does make sense. (The native Americans of the Great Plains used as much as possible of the Buffalo)

I believe humans are best suited to be omnivores, so I eat some meat.

adapted from a poem by Smart

"The animal rights movement/anti fur etc is a complex issue. I wonder; How many of us who don't wear fur, do wear leather shoes, boot etc, or carry a leather purse?? Personally I am 'guilty' of that! How many vegetarians also wear lether shoes, boots etc!!!"It depends where you stand on the animal rights spectrum. Many animals eat meat. I am one of them. The human digestive system is structured to handle a diet that is heavy in fruits and vegetables.. .but also meat. While I think it would be a waste to shoot an animal purely for its pelt, I think it is thirfty to use a skin of a food animal for leather. Thus I do not hunt. I do not buy fur. But I do eat

meat and wear leather.Administrator
