I'm honestly to the point where I think Obama should just hand this over to the UN to handle, lock, stock and barrel. The UN, EU, and other nations would love for the US to jump on Iran, and then jump all over us for doing so, just like how the supported and pushed us going into Iraq and Afghanistan, then promptly turned on us, most of them anyway. If the EU in particular suddenly figured out the US wasn't going to help them if the Iranians got nukes, they might change their tune rather quickly. If they did get nuked, well, that's not our problem either.

Again, if we had developed our own resources as I have said before, by this time we could just walk away from the Middle East altogether and leave it to be someone else's problem. After all, the Europeans, mainly the British and the French, divided up the Middle East after WWII, so why not make it all their problem again?
