to email someone privately, you need their email address. For me (using gmail) everyone's email address shows up when they post. For others, email addresses from yahoo are truncated. So, you can either search for them or pull their email address out of a post, but either way you need to send an email to their email address rather than to the group.

how do i email someone privately? I clicked on

<members> below. had a members page search that came up. searched for this persons name. can i contact this person privately from here? or will this be posted to the group?
