yikes, keep in mind that too much of a good thing

is not always a good thing. 72 ounces of fluids for you

should be sufficient unless you are hiking in the desert

or something...

Jackie, I am drinking LOTS of water..in fact could I be drinking too much. Already today I have down a gallon and I weigh 144. I'm afraid I am totally depleting all nutrients by washing them away.

hi Alice. you don't want to drink so much water that you are peeing all the

time. i think the formula is half your body weight in onces so that would mean

about 72 onces or a little over 1/2 gallon a day. but of course as sheena says

you need more if you are hiking in the mountains or digging tree stumps.

I used to wonder that too when I was in treatment. I drank about 2 and sometimes

3 gallons a day not because I wanted to but because I was that thirsty and I

would get really sick if I didn't.

Here is a copy of a letter that I sent my Dr. about making my own

'electrolyte'-drink.

I also have diabetes, so, I asked about half-sugar or NO sugar in the mix.

Please ask Your doctor/s before attempting anything.

______________________________________________________________________

I was looking for a 'better' recipe to make my own " electrolyte "

fluid-replacement solution.

Here is the 'best-recipe' that I could find so far.

Please let me know how this looks to You, and if it 'needs-anything' to make it

better-balanced/more-conducive-to my other health concerns.

1 quart (950 ml) water

½ teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda

½ teaspoon (2.5 g) table salt (I'd use Sea Salt)

3 to 4 tablespoons (45 to 60 g) sugar (or half-sugar/half-Splenda-?......ALL

Splenda-?)

If available, add ¼ teaspoon (1.25 g) salt substitute (such as " Lite Salt " ).

(for the Potassium)

6-8% carbs-?

Pedialyte is SO expensive that I was wanting to be able to make my own

" electrolyte " fluid-replacement solution.

(for 'sick-days'/excercise etc.)

My Dr. said " looks about right to me " and " go ahead and drink that if You want " .

Of course, some people may have other health issues that would preclude this

recipe.

Asking ones' own Dr. about it would be the sensible course of action.

Hon, if you are drinking MORE than a gallon of water every day, you certainly ARE DRINKING TOO MUCH! Please look at what you are doing,, and lower your water intake to no more than one gallon and specifically, you should be consuming about 72 ounces...
