Guest guest
the office should be sending you the papers for your lab work...I just did my 4 yr one.. The lab here in Taft faxed the findings to dr k and I took one up for them...Once you have your labs done then it's just calling to get yourself an appointment... Good year this has been for you... God bless, Pat
Guest guest
no problem marla! Jenni from 312 to 232 since august 30th 05 tamarac42 wrote: I keep reading about these spectacular weightlosses since July and wonder just how you people are doing it. 115 since July seems like a lot. I am just 11 months out and have lost 116.5 pounds. My weightloss was slow over the holidays but seems to slowly be moving downwards. I usually see a loss in inches before the weightloss shows up on the scales. I don't weigh often anymore because it makes me nuts. My " often " means a couple times a week versus every day. I haven't been in to see Dr. K since July and as my one year approaches I wondered if they contact us for labs or we just make an appointment (and in my case, airline reservations, hotels, etc.)and then show up at the appointed time. Marta and Jo, did you lose much after the first 12 months? I was on this board from the time Elle had her surgery until now but I don't remember what your losses were. Also, once again, here is a plea for people to put their beginning and current weights or BMI's on their signature line. I have enough problems with remembering my stats without keeping track of all of you guys. But, that information gives us a goal, hope, and information we need to make intelligent decisions. I so appreciate all the help and encouragement this board provides. I was one of the lucky ones with no complications or problems. I guess I am forgetting that Dr. K discovered two carcinoid benign tumors in my small bowel and had to remove those while doining the DS surgery but overall I have had an uneventful recovery. For that I thank God and the support of my family and this group. So with that I will do my signature line. Guest guest
Marla The office should send out lab request about a month before your surgery anniversary happens. PLEASE EVERYONE note: You MUST keep the office up to date on your current address/phone numbers so they may reach you and send out your lab request. Also...sometimes folks fall through the cracks.. (It's happened to me!). So YOU must take responsibility. If you haven't received any thing from the office by the time your anniversary hits...CALL the 800 number and let them know you need it sent...it may be lost in the mail or something entered wrong in a computer...who knows??? Just call and keep up with your labs. Now back to you Marla. Different people do things in different ways. Some just make the appointment, go to Delano and do their labs there. It works for them and their circumstances. I personally think it's better to come to Delano with your labs done. That way Dr. K has the info he needs while he is examining you. Plus while your there in his office you can discuss anything that confuses or concerns you about any changes he wants you to make because of your lab results. I would make my appointment to see Dr. K about 3 weeks after you have done your labs. If you need to get your labs done sooner than what the office would normally send out the lab request (because it would work better for your travel needs) just call and ask them to send one. I know adding surgery dates/bmi info after our names can be real interesting to the newbies and those who are still in those first few years. I would have to type it in every time, since I answer post directly from the group site...sooo, I'm saying I'm too lazy to do so each time. I do want to re-state what Dr. K says repeatedly...We ALL lose at different rates for different reasons and we really shouldn't get too hung up on comparisons. But that is real hard to do especially if you consider yourself to be the one losing slower than others. Remember....it doesn't matter if someone else lost 100 pounds in 6 months and it took you a year (example only). What IS important...you lost 100 pounds that you probably would never have done otherwise!!! And are you HEALTHIER! Are you able to be more ACTIVE!!! Those are the things that are important. Please try to keep it in perspective. Hugs Jo Just for you Marla 2-19-2001 BMI 44 270 lbs Today's BMI 24 145 lbs (lowest weight 130 lbs.) Guest guest
Marla, let me refresh your memory. I went to BFE when I was eight months out and my wt loss stopped like I hit a brick wall. After that I lost one to three pounds each month for quite a while. I had my TT after 18 mos, lost 21 or so more lbs. Then this year I rebounded 21 lbs. I am dieting it off.
