Guest guest
" China would be hurt in such a dispute, but what would happen over here if cheap garbage started vanishing from the shelves? American shoppers will freak if the walk into a store and see empty shelves and they can't buy toys, gadgets, let only necessities. I think our politicians will blink first. " One needs to keep in mind that this health care bill will cause small businesses and self-employed individuals especially to raise the price of their products and services to pay for mandatory healthcare, and these small businesses and individuals could hardly compete with cheap foreign products. Consumers would be forced to buy slightly more expensive gadgets manufactured elsewhere. Consumers would then blame inflation on the trade war rather than the costs added to products to finance corporate health care plans. Guest guest
Good point. The increased costs will also deter new hiring and probably result in more people being laid off. That means more people on the dole and on public health care, thus making government more expensive. I'm sure lots of them will also be hired as new bureaucrats for the dozens of new bureaucracies that are coming just under the health care bill alone. That's not counting the other make-work programs that will come up and the Civilian Military Auxiliary Obama talked about during the campaigns. In a message dated 12/30/2009 12:52:40 P.M.
