Guest guest
A good place to start- www.adga.org and find the state by state listing for the dairy goat clubs. They usually meet once a month for a pot luck and are VERY family oriented. This will be your best bet for face to face meeting of a supplier for your needs. If those in attendance don't have any milk to sell, then they probably know someone who does. Understand though that most all goat folks will be hand milking in a bucket in the barn. Some will have a milkroom and some may even use machine to milk. But, it's all very 'low tech.' You want to find someone who does consume the milk themselves (yeah, that's a sad thing, but some do not, I'd avoid them.) I can't emphasize enough that if you even vaguely think you might one day be a goat owner??? You need to attend meeting as this is your 'mentor' program to not kill your goats!!! When you join American Dairy Goat Association, you get a membership directory with all the members listed. It's great for tracking down both milk and animals. Even if you don't have goats yet, it's a great way to support the goat industry by supporting ADGA. Check your local feed stores, feed mills, for sale adds in the newspapers, etc... for folks who have DAIRY goats for sale. That's going to be Alpine, LaMancha, Nubian, Oberhasli, Saanen, Toggenburg. Like the little boy said 'If they gots the goats they gots the milk too!!!' Donna Safehaven Nubians Dandridge, TN > > It was a few years ago that I tried it... I have been afraid to try it since, except now hearing ya'll talk about it is sparking my curiosity again ;-) So I may give it another shot, but only if I can find a local reputable source ;-) > > Thanks for all the input everyone ;-) > > Kathy > > > > Re: Finally > > Kathy, > That is NOT what goat milk should taste like at all. Weird. I have two goats in milk right now. We use our milk raw all the time. Sugar's milk taste no different than cow's milk except a little richer and more complex. I like it better. > It also doesn't give me a bloated stomach like cows milk does. It sounds like you should ask for a refund. The seller should stand by their product. > Roni. >
