Guest guest
Thank you to those that posted on the web or to me directly. My husband thinks I timed it perfectly since now I won't be able to help with the fencing for the sheep & goats this spring. I guess God knows its better to hire a professional to help with the fencing, so it's done right! > > Charity, > Congratulations! Guest guest
Congratulations. Was wondering why you can’t breastfeed for more than 2 mo.s I was a LLLeader for many years and maybe you don’t have to wean so soon.
Guest guest
WARNING BEFORE YOU READ THIS, HUMAN ANATOMY TYPE GRAPHIC DETAIL TO FOLLOW! As you probably know, the baby has to put the nipple, areola and a little past in its mouth for the breast tissue not to become damaged. My areolas are so large that the baby can barely get much more than the nipple in its mouth. This causes my breasts & nipples to become so raw that the pain becomes unbareable and I am forced to express by 6 weeks and then start with formula after that dries up. Otherwise I would breastfeed for 6-9 months. I'm sorry if this is too graphic for the group. > > Congratulations. Guest guest
Have you tried a nipple shield? Ask your OB doctor about Reglan (it increases milk supply) if you start pumping. We use it a lot with new mom's to premature babies. Hope this helps.
Guest guest
Try blessed THislte tea . It is supposed to increase milk, also fennel, and dill. Cut out sugar, soda, and processed food. I had trouble also, but somehow managed to get through by pumping until the baby was big enough to drink more and keep me more empty and thus not so sore. rhonda Re: Re: New inspiration Have you tried a nipple shield? Guest guest
I have the same thing. I would definitely look into a lactation consultant to help you with a latch. This seems like a latch issue and not an aereola issue. I would have someone watch you latch your baby on. I had the same issues as you and it got easier but once the nipples are damaged from in proper latch than they are hard to recover and then you can get yeast candida in the nipples and then the pain is very hard to get rid of believe me I had this with a lot of my kids. Pain from nursing was normal for me in the first month even with proper latch but then subsided in my subsequent nursing babies. I just stuck with it even though the pain was bad and then I just got rid of the sugar and got rid of the candida and then there was no pain. IT sounds like latch issues and thrush in your nipples to me. Re: New inspiration WARNING BEFORE YOU READ THIS, HUMAN ANATOMY TYPE GRAPHIC DETAIL TO FOLLOW! Guest guest
I'll keep that in mind. The first month was always easiest. There was pain then, but bearable. After 4-6 weeks it would be so bad that I would be crying in pain trying to breasfeed. When I had a nurse help me lasttime, she said that the baby just couldn'y get enough in its mouth to avoid the improper latch, so I just did the best I could. > > > > Congratulations. Guest guest
You may have flat nipples. Find a LLLeader to help you. You can get bad lact nurses and they can really ruin a nursing relationship imo. You obviously had thrush and not a bad latch could have been brought on by nipple damage from improper latch. If you have flat nipples you could. I large um you knows and have that same issue and you should not have pain from that in any way. Give it a try get a leader that will really help you and stick with it gets easier believe me. If you had nipple pain after the first month you had thrush. Did you give him bottles or pacis's because that can give babies really BAD nipple confusion and they can start sucking on you wrong and you can get REALLY sore. I would not introduce a bottle until you are not in any pain anymore. There are things you can do for thrush. I had thrush with both of my 2 middle kids for 1-2 yrs. There are things you can do but the biggest one is cut out ALL sugar. You can email me off list for anymore info but please don't give up on nursing your baby it is a really great thing once you get through the rough times with it or else I would not have breastfeed 3 kids for a total of 6 yrs altogether. -----Original Message-----From: RawDairy [mailto:RawDairy ] On Behalf Of Charity Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 1:12 PMTo: RawDairy Subject: Re: New inspiration I'll keep that in mind.
