Quitting TreatmentTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Thursday, April 2, 2009, 12:56 PM Well, been quite a roller coaster day so far. My PA called and said that since my viral load isn't clear that they are taking me off of treatment. I asked if I could at least finish the month of medications that I already have and then check it again and she said "no, you're done. You're a nonresponder. "O.K...I have been preparing myself mentally for this and was really kind of giddy at the thought of no more meds! I can get my hair dyed again. I can get off of the sofa!Then...she called back and said that she talked to my GI doc and she agreed that I could continue until 6 months were up and then if I haven't cleared it's over. But that I may never clear because they consider me a nonresponder and I could just be poisoning myself for nothing. I asked the GI Doc to call me so I will wait to hear more from her but was told that it wouldn't be much different than what I already know.So....I need your input. Would any of you quit now or continue on to the 6 months? I'm at Stage 2 liver damage. Thanks for your help...Tricia

Guest guest
Yes I am. I have to get my hemoglobin A1C down but as soon as it gets to .08 then I start. I have to get my blood sugars under control, and I am getting there. Should start in a month from last week. Love Janet "There are souls in this world that have the gift of finding joy everywhere and of leaving it behind them when they go" Frederick Faber Okay, I am privy to knowledge that some of you might not know. But I am entering a final stage of a clinical trial for the pro-tease inhibitor. My doctor who is runs the clinical trial is talking cure. Yeah, cure. This should be on the market in about a year. It is for non-responders like yourself and I. I will let you know what I can as I go through this clinical trial. I am set up now to take blood work every two weeks. Yea!! Not. Guest guest
Every thing is go, but my hemoglobin A1C, it is being a bugger bear. It is because my blood sugar got out of control. I ran out of my long lasting insulin, and was using the reg. insulin to control my sugar. Reg insulin does not last long in the system. Sooooooo being the dummy I am sometimes. I am stubborn. I didn't make the appt with the doctor to get my Levermir(long lasting insulin). Because I wanted to save money. Well I should be spanked. I was taking 8 insulin shots a day just to keep up. Sometimes as much as 20 units per shot. I went to the doctor (my GP) and I got spanked. Because I was a bad girl. I am now just on the long lasting insulin, twice a day. And Byetta, that is a supplement to the insulin that comes in a injection twice a day. Byetta heals the make natural insulin and helps with weight loss too. LOL My sugar levels are back to normal ranges and yes, I will have to take insulin for the rest of my life. But if I control what I eat and keep on taking the insulin. I should be okay during the treatment and afterwards. I wil be conpliant during treatment, I promise.
