Guest guest
Hi ..... First off... YOU ROCK! I'm so proud of you and I don't even know you. Kudos on sticking with it so long and doing such a great job. I can understand how frustrating a plateau can be. The best way to bust through a plateau is to shake it up a bit. Maybe take 4 - 6 weeks and carb cycle then go back to BFL. Do you do the same foods/exercise as you started? Brett may be able to give you some suggestions, he likes shaking up his routine too. You may also consider your nutrition. Check your BMR and see if you are within a 100 calories of it. (You've lost so much, you may be eating too much). Try upping your protein and cutting back on your carbs (this is NOT for newbies.. only for those that have done a couple challenges). Those are my only suggestions I can come up with right off the top of my head, i'm sure others can give you some ideas. Lana Hi I have following the body for life plan now for two years. I have lost 130# (-170# fat and +40# muscle) I am now at a stand sill. I am down to 22% fat from around 60%. I am now at a stand still. Any subjestions. I am almost thinking of tring something else. Guest guest
Post your height/weight and a typical meal plan for a day, and someone might be able to make some suggestions. Also, what are you doing to workout, are you changing routines every few weeks, etc? Andyman > I have following the body for life plan now for two years. Guest guest
WOW ! Congratulations on your amazing progress with the program!!! I like Andy's suggestions to post your menu, exercise plan, etc. It seems to me that now would be a good time for you to do some tweaking since you have been doing BFL for so long. Obviously, BFL has worked wonders for you, and there's nothing wrong with tweaking when you have stopped getting results. ****Note to newbies - this is only for someone who has completed one to two challenges already, NOT for someone in their 1st challenge!!!! Let us know what you are doing now, and some of the experienced BFLers here can probably give you some great pointers! Jen B. C5W7D5 > I have following the body for life plan now for two years. Guest guest
Hi NAR, I've been waiting to hear from you. I'm so glad you're back on the list. You're our 15-yo. Yesterday we got a 16-yo newbie on the list. Her name is Rose and she's from Japan -- visiting her sister here in the US. And, you're in Australia now. Its amazing that these nadas and fadas exist all over the world. You wrote: << .... l guess l have taken everyones advice in leaving my nada, >> You've made a very wise choice. << lm just missing home in bulahdelah,lm missing my brothers and sisters, and my nada. >> Of course you are. You'll need a little time for things to settle down. And you've got us KOs here that know what you've gone through. << Because l have lefted she does not want anything to do with me at all, she is also turning my younger brothers and sisters against me, will time change that? l really hope so!!!! >> There's a name for the stuff your nada is doing -- she has 'split' you " all bad " and she's doing a " distortion campaign. " It can be expected that she would do that because she has a personality disorder -- ie, BPD. You have to remember that the stuff that comes out of your nada's mouth is because of her mental illness. Its really not about you at all -- although its hard for you to see that right now. The farther and longer you stay away, the better it will be for you -- unless your nada would get therapy and work hard at getting better. And your younger brothers and sisters know the truth. They'll remember you as you were. << For those who remember me and gave me the best advice really did help, so thankyou. from NAR >> You're welcome. And we remember what you posted here on July 8. When you get to feeling like you want to return to your nadas house, you can read what you wrote. I've copied it in below. You wrote: << l feel more confident now to explan what my nada does to me, My nada is very violent, she goes off about anything and hits me across the head, and makes me do what she wants, and what she chooses, its like l don't have my own opinion with anything, not even to what clothes l wear. Then that leads me to believe that lm non-existence, like there is no me. My nada takes all my money, she embarrasses me in pubic, and makes me cry. My nada picks out boys, that she likes and says they're great, and that l should go out with that person, she wants me to have babys when lm only 15, but only because she can't have babys herself. And my nada says my stepmum wants me dead, and she says my stepmum is a bitch. My nada does not listen to anything that l say, just what she thinks. She talks about sex, and swears at me, she told me that l was going to be raped, and went into detail about what the men were going to do to me. Which made me have nightmares, and l woke up scared. And my nada makes me watch scary movies, which also give me nightmares. >> Believe me, you're going to look back some day and be very very happy about leaving that behind you. A BIG BIG Hug for NAR. {{{{{{{{{{ NAR }}}}}}}}}}}} Cheers, - Edith Moderator ..
Guest guest
Hi, Nar, GOOD FOR YOU! I know making that decision was the hardest thing you've ever had to do, but it will get better. What your nada is doing with your brothers & sisters is called a distortion campaign. She's trying to turn others against you in order to make herself feel better by making you the " bad " one. If you can, ignore it. Your brothers & sisters have known you all their lives, so they know the kind of person you are. It will probably make life easier for them, for now, if they at least act like they are buying your nada's lies. The important thing is for your to take care of yourself, and give yourself time to adjust to your new life. As much as we might want it, things rarely change in one big flash. After you get settled yourself, maybe you can concentrate on your relationship with your younger sibs. I'm so happy for you! It probably doesn't seem like it now, but soon you will have lots of new friends and a whole new life. Enjoy it, you deserve it. Guest guest
Hello 'NAR'! It sounds like the move has been a tough adjustment for you. That's natural, it would be hard for anyone! You are going through a tough time but you are way ahead of the game in so many ways. I did not know that my mother had BPD at 16. I only discovered this information this year at age 41. I knew she was an addict but so much of her behavior makes more sense when seen as part of her BPD diagnosis. I saw the post full of good advice from Edith. There's nothing more that I can add other than the fact that I am very impressed at your courage, strength and insight for someone who is so young. Keep us informed of how you are doing whenever you get a chance. Guest guest
Dear Nachi, Thank you for sharing all of this with us! You will certainly have my prayers and prayers for those you are grieving over & their families, too. You brought up a good point, as well. I hate to admit this but here goes -- I've noticed that as I've gotten older, (I'm 49), that I tend to choke when eating or drinking more of the time. Some of it is when I'm eating and talking at the same time, or drinking & talking at the same time. However, it has been literally quite scary several times -- one time my husband had to do the Heimlich Maneuver for me to get unchoked on food. Other times I have ended up coughing for over an hour, and just can't quite seem to get over it. I only bring this up to share with others that this is a serious topic, and could certainly contribute to a death if things didn't quite go right. Life is precious. We need to savor each and every moment. And I need to quit talking & eating, and to quit drinking something & talking -- years ago, it didn't seem to bother me that much. But, now it seems more serious and as if I need to be more careful. I only share this with you guys in the hopes that it might help some of you or some of your families. It would be awful to be eating or drinking something and then start laughing and choke to death! Just something to think about. It must have been a very painful death. Keeping the aside the shock and the pain of her death I want to say that there is a message in us for all...Many a times we are so much in rush to move forward to next moment..that we force the present moment to speed up..doing everything at the same time..eating too fast..drinking too fast..not realising that our rush could cost us our life.. Even if we may not lose our life..we lost the precious moments in our life.. I wouldnt want the fate of my friends mum to become of someone else fate.. Guest guest
Dear PJ, This is the third death of such kind that I have been witnessing..and the other two are more painful than this one. I am glad that Your hubby knew of Heimlich Maneuver. My father too has this problem..he has troulbe swallowing medicine pills. He has taken several medical tests for his thoart and thankfully has no health issue invovled. He disolves his med. pills in the water and drinks the solution..so as to not to aggrivate this prob any further. May i suggest you something..there is a medical test that can detect any possible health issue in such case(as in what trouble u r having swallowing food, drinking water) Its called Barium swallow..(pardon any spelling mistakes) in this test one is asked to swallow and its path and progress is checked by ultrasound.. I would request u to ask u doctor for this test or bring your issue to the notice of u r doc. hope u wont misunderstand me.. Guest guest
Dear Nachi, That is very interesting that you know of three people that this happened to. I have had the barium swallow done (but it has been a few years ago), and it turned out normal. My husband has a swallowing problem that he has had off and on from a kid till now, where the doctor has to go in with an instrument and enlarge the esophagus every few years or so -- then the problems go away again until it starts narrowing up again. Can't remember what it is called at the moment, though. My tests didn't show that up. But, if it continues awhile, I may go back again and check with the doctor. Unfortunately, I have to take so many medications for my rheumatoid arthritis, that it is lucky that I can swallow pills. I never seem to choke on pills, just on food or liquids, and usually I'm talking, or starting to laugh or something when this happens. Why I always get caught with my mouth full when someone tells a joke, ???!!! Who knows. Thank you for your concern. I will certainly be careful and check it out. Again, my sympathy to you & your friends. Hugs, PJ nachiketan@... wrote: Dear PJ, This is the third death of such kind that I have been witnessing..and the other two are more painful than this one. Guest guest
Dear Nachi, Namaste, I'm so thrilled to hear from you!!! I've been praying for you and your family, and for the countries that had the recent earthquake. Yes, I've heard the same thing about the world's events. It is very concerning, and yet if we all pull together, and lift each other up, ...then hopefully we will all get through it okay! I know our country is still being affected by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, plus the flooding in the mid-west and north, and the wildfires out in California and the west. We will keep everyone in our prayers!! Nachi, you are such a beautiful person, and always have so many neat messages to share with the group, and we have missed you. Hoping that your depression will be lessened, and the trials you are having to endure, will be just for a moment. I just heard that there was an aftershock over there earlier this evening -- my time. Hope things settle down, and improve for the world and that peace, love, and harmony will prevail throughout. Nachi, let us know as time goes on, if you need any more specific prayers, or if anyone else can help. Love & Hugs to All, PJ > > Dear All, > > Namaste, > > > > I am requesting Prayers for everyone involved in the recent massive Earthquake in India and Pakistan. > > I am sending all my Love, Prayers and Blessings to the adults, children and the property. My Prayers for everyone who is in pain..I hope with all my heart that however immpossible this sitaution might be felt by the people in the affected area..each one will be shown light and love by God in some way or the other. > > It is wrong to calculate the impact of such tragedies in numbers..because the numbers only signify the enmornity and spread and sometimes the individuality of this tragedy gets forgotten.. Guest guest
> well, i keep hearing problems about wound infections from being cut open--i have to be cut open so i want to know if there is anything to do to prevent these wound infections? =========================== I don't think they have been having an unusual problem with wound infections at Delano, but every hospital has some degree of wound infections. So, It never hurts to practice common sense. You can ask every nurse/doctor to wash their hands before touching your bandages. YOU continue that practice with yourself and any caregivers at home. Once you have permission to shower...do so daily, letting the water and soap run over the incision. Follow all post-op orders. Nutrition can also come into play. Make yourself as healthy as you can NOW. A healthier you will heal better. Take your vitamins, exercise, DON'T smoke....did I say DON't SMOKE! Smoking really does interfere in healing. After surgery get in every drop of water/protein/exercise/vitamins that you can...it will promote healthy healing. Hugs Jo

Guest guest
Those labs don't sound too bad being on treatment and having cirrhosis. Things always go wrong with appliances or whatever else when we have more important things to worry about. Try not to worry too much.
