Itchy clothing/labels ocd?

My 4 year old son has recently started complaining that his clothes are all

itchy and complaining to take out all the labels. It kind of freaks me out since

my 11 year old has ocd and hoarding, I " m starting to worry this could be a sign

of OCD! My daughter also complained about clothing labels. ANy help. He's not

showing any other signs of OCD as far as I can see.

This would be more consistent with SPD (sensory processing disorder).. Otherwise

known as SID (sensory integration dysfunction)..  SPD commonly goes along with

OCD, ADHD, Asperger's, etc.

Gosh that sounds just like my son when he was very young...it moved on to

socks...and only wearing one pair of shorts - nothing felt right....However,

lots of young kids are quirky - it might not be anything at all...at least you

know what to look for if more symptoms come up..

My 11 yr old daughter also complained of the same things when age 4 ... and now

at age 11, she still does not show any ocd symptoms and seems to have grown out

of most of her sensory issues. My 16 yr old son has ocd so of course we were

watching, but so far, so good. At least, so far, we've gotten 7 ocd-free years!

I've 3 sons, one with OCD. It's my other 2 who had clothing issues when

younger. (all over age 20 now) It is annoying, worrying, when they go through

this. As someone said, it's a sensory issue. You can try to have him wear a

shirt with a label/tag in it or some " itchy " clothing for certain amounts of

time, try to keep it on 5 minutes, 2 minutes, 30...whatever, and earn points

towards a reward/treat. Just a thought! Maybe make it like a game....
