Guest guest
Thanks BJ, this is one of the reason i took her to the ER a few months ago,to see if her ears were ok,it was after hours. Her ears were fine, and we just had them checked again and there still ok. Not sure what heavy means! She is paranoid, shes not sure if shes hearing things, and she doesn't really ask for the reassurance, just an occasional, did you make that noise?,did you say something? did you call my name? its mostly. " " I'm not sure if im hearing things. yesterday she told the case manager shes not sure if its the tv or not,but regardless she seems embarrassed about it and says its just to hard to expain and would rather not talk about it! Jennie Re: hearing things..  Our son used to " question " if he was hearing things. Then would come to me for reassurance, to make sure I hadn't said something and he missed it. The key to that being OCD is he was " doubting " what he " might or might not " have heard, then was looking for " reassurance " . It might not be a bad idea to have her ears checked, just because of her complaint of her ears feeling heavy, but also to talk to her psychiatrist, or psychologist, to get their input. From my understanding, schizophrenia is voices talking to them, not in their own voice. It doesn't sound like that is what is going on with her though. If I had to guess, I would guess that it could be OCD because of the " fear " of hearing things, then being unsure. But, it's best to get a professional opinion. Just wanted to also point out that sometimes OCD can seem like paranoia, because they are so fearful of things that are unreasonable, but that is the nature of OCD. The fear of people hurting her, or poisoning her, that she experienced in the past might have been OCD at work. What did her doctor say was going on when she was going through that? BJ > > > > I have been on and off a few OCD list for years when lindseys (15)OCD was so obvious, but it is taking a new turn,it has for a few years now.. She's had extreme paranoia, but that it so much better. fear of people out to hurt her, poisoning her. Now shes not sure if shes hearing things. she would freak if she suspected i though she was,but I'm wondering if we are heading in that direction. A few times a day,she will ask if i said something,or she says her ears feel heavy, and shes not sure if she heard something but she ask for her meds just in case. shes hearing things. And at times the TV seems to get louder and closer to her. I'm wondering if it could still be OCD.but im also thinking mild schizophrenia. I had to take her to the hospital several months ago because she though she wasnt sure if she was hearing things, and she was so upset. there not voices that tell her to do things,or even things that she can make out as far as I know. she says its hard to explain. There is lots to tell but i want to see if this sounds familiar at all! a fear of hearing things and not sure where its coming from. > > > > We go back to the psych dr Wednesday so its important i know your thoughts on this. > > > > Thank you! > > Jennie > > >
Guest guest
Awwwww, sorry, Jennie. I hope you are able to get it figured out. Sometimes the " not " knowing is scarier than knowing, because you fear the worst. The article Bonnie shared was a good one. I hope it helped give you some insight or ideas. Let us know what you find out in your quest for answers.
