Guest guest
Excellent - I will put that in our recipe files, because it is good bandit food, full of protien and should go down well to boot. Guest guest
And I reckon that would go down a treat if it was made with prawns and scallops... how fantastic. I am off to buy the ingredients for dinner tomorrow night - with rice, how delicious! Guest guest
No worries Mazz... how good does it sound! I am going to make Craig & the kids in my oven dish that I do tuna mornay in, and cover it with the pastry - I can dig my serve out from under the pastry. I am already beside myself thinking about it. Why Oh Why, does food do this to me? I am finding the less that I can eat, the more I talk about it and crave it. I know that many people who are banded have trouble with this excess of discussions that we have about food... but it is like an addiction. Like the way Cherie collects cookbooks, the way Nic reads them as bedtime reading... the way many of us watch cooking shows... I know I do, yet I rarely cook anything that I watch. I write down recipes, but never ever do I make any of it. It is a passion that I just cannot give up. The talk this morning of the "Fat Duck" restaurant. I have looked it up, and I am planning to make a reservation for next year when I am in London - why... I don't know, but I have to. I hate my obesity, but I cannot control it. I had hoped that this band of mine would solve my obesity problem, but it hasn't, I am 22 odd kilos lighter than I was at banding, and I am about 30 kilos from my goal... so not too bad really. I am never going to reach goal, but I can live with the fact that I am no longer over 100 kgs, in fact - I am below 90 most of the time. So that is good! But I love good food and good wine, and I refuse to give it up. I apologise to those who I offend with my ongoing talk of food and eating. It is something I cannot give up. So, if you cannot cope with it, maybe you need to skip my posts. This is the only place that I can talk about it without embarassement. I know, odd as it sounds, most "normal" people cannot understand how or why I cannot control myself and I never talk to them about food... this is my place to do that and I feel safe doing it here as I do think that you all can understand where I am coming from. Guest guest
Hiya, I can honestly say that I am a LOUSY cook! I have lived on Mcs for the past 5 years - at least 3-4 times per week. Pizza, takeaway italian or thai the other nights. I can see that I am going to have to relearn to cook again. I used to cook - before my daughter left home. Since she left I just haven't been bothered. But now that I'm anticipating only being able to eat 60grams of food in one meal - I'll have to make it count, eh? BTW - Since my banding six days ago - I haven't been game to watch cooking shows on foxtel! Sounds like pure torture Cheers, Sera > > > > > > > > > > > > **drools for a curried scallop pie** > > > > > > > > > > > > Hugs Leeanne > > > > > > > > > > > > -- Re: Pies >Fi > > > > > > > > > > > > I just cant do beef mince - pork, lamb, veal mince no worries. > Beef > > > > mince > > > > > > is too tough even when I cook it right down. Guest guest
Oh my goodness Mel, reading your post was like reading about myself! I had read the recipe too, and had already planned it for dinner tomorrow night, which dish to use, from where to purchase the seafood, checked the pantry to make sure I had all the other ingredients and whether to have it with mashed potato or jasmine rice. As you know I am not banded, but also find that the less I eat the more I crave food, almost to the point of obsession. It has always disgusted me at just how much emphasis and thought I place on food. I buy all the monthly foodie books from the supermarket (4 I think) and have yet to make one of the recipes! Same as the Women's Weekly - I sit and drool over all the recipes and their divine pics, but don't ever make one - why is this? Sorry, but I did have to laugh about you making a reservation at the Fat Duck - I would do exactly that!! You say you hate your obesity but Mel, you have done something about it. Whether or not you are at goal at present doesn't matter. What does matter is that you saw a problem and made a huge life changing decision. Yes, you are 20kgs lighter - imagine how much heavier you would be if you had not done what you have? Perhaps 20kgs heavier? You're right, it is like having an embarrassing secret, our hidden desires for food. I would never tell a soul exactly how much I think about food. I look at 'normal' people and am so envious because its as though they treat food as fuel, and only eat enough to keep themselves going. How I would love to be like that. Guest guest
LOL! Now *that* is what I call a masochist Here's the menu at my place: entree: 1/4 icypole main: 1/2 cup tinned tomato soup dessert: remaining icypole - if I can stuff it in after that DEGUSTATION! However I'm off to buy REAL VEGETABLES tommorow. I'm going to attempt the cauliflower soup recipe. smiles, Sera (much lighter on my feet today) > > > > Mel > > > > I think the majority of us are the same as you are Hun > > > > I have a huge collection of cook books too > > I watch all the cooking shows on foxtel > > > > If we are all honest we are all either now or before obsessed with > food > > It seems to be in our nature > > > > Plus I bet most of us a good cooks too > > I have no problem saying im a good cook > > Always have been >
