So happy for you and congratulations. I think these events mean even more to

those of us who have had a long road getting there. My son will be graduating

from high school this year. Several times during the last few years I didn't

know if we would ever get this far. But, with a lot of hard work we did.

REading this made me cry! Thanks for sharing. Yes, only those of us who have

taken a road trip with the monster can understand what a huge accomplishment it

is.

Yes. . proud AND RELIEVED. Only another OCD parent would understand the relived

part. (((hugs)))

Does she plan on moving home now, while looking for a job? I pray she can get

one. You hear so many horror stories of kids graduating college then taking a

job anyone could have gotten, without the hard-worked-for education. Hard

times.

I'm so glad you shared. We all need to hear the GOOD news too sometimes, to

keep us going. She's a victory story. :o)

Josh is doing better, Terry. Thanks for asking. He is attending a local

college, only taking one class right now. We were trying to get his health back

under control, so only had him take the one class this quarter, giving us time

to continue to seek answers.

I encouraged him to take a writing class, because he struggles with it (no black

and white answers, like OCD likes), so figured it would be easier to take it

when he could concentrate ONLY on it. Despite his pessimism, he's gotten 100%

on every essay so far. :o) I'm hoping it will restore his confidence in his

abilities.

Healthwise, things have improved. Seems the itching, overheating, and sweating

were medication related. It's so odd that it came on over a period of years

like that, but it's certainly improved since we cut his dose in half. It's not

gone, but it's tolerable now.

Of course his OCD is more intense, but we are struggling through it. And just

glad his GAD hasn't flared.

He's been able to start exercising again, now that he's more able to function,

and has dropped 30 pounds. I notice his appetite has mellowed too, with the

lowering of the meds. My husband was the same on those meds. . .Both seemed

like they couldn't tell when they were full, so over ate.

For now. . .We are doing well. Hoping it lasts!

It's good to hear from you. :o)

BJ,

So glad Josh is doing well. I'm sure it's a huge relief to him this

semester to only have 1 class compared to what he was doing in the

fall! I'm sure he needed some time to feel well again. Glad he's

exercising and doing so well in the writing class. Writing was always

hard for me too because it's subjective. You almost have to write to

the teachers style instead of your own.

I took 10 mgs. of Lexapro a few years ago for 6 mos. to see if it would

help with my insomnia. I didn't notice anything with mood, sleep, etc,

but I gained 15 lbs! I weigh 120 normally, so I noticed it big time.

Of course the Dr. said it was a " weight neutral " med and that couldn't

be it. Yea, right. I noticed that I ate a lot more and didn't feel

full. I also craved carbs. It all stopped when I stopped the med, but

it sure was hard getting the weight back off at age 40.

Hi, Dina. :o)

Yeah, he's relieved, but going in he was sure it would be too overwhelming after

his one and only experience with the other college. It's been good for him to

see that he can do it and it isn't too much.

He's fortunate that his teacher has a similar sense of humor to his, so she

likes his writing. :o) Nice to catch a break.

I'm not sure if I agree with that doc either, Dina. Obviously it wasn't weight

neutral for you. Hubby was on that once too and ate like crazy. I couldn't seem

to cook enough food.

Ugh. . 50 is harder yet!

It's so encouraging to hear of your kids' successes! Right now the idea of my

daughter attending college or finding a rewarding job still seems like a distant

dream. I need to keep looking up.
