Guest guest
Hi: I'm another new member. My name is Sheila and I live in Delray Beach, FL where it's thundering and lightening rather intensely, so I hope I don't get thrown offline. I've been married for 7 years. Didn't get married till I was 48. And sadly, my husband, has early onset Alzheimer's disease. He used to be an airline pilot. Believe it or not, I met him at my brother's first wedding when I was 14. He was married to my first cousin whom I'd never known because she grew up in Phoenix, AZ and I grew up in New York City and later a suburb of the city. I had a huge crush on my husband way back then. Of course, it dwindled rather quickly. My first cousin had MS and died at 55. So I ended up marrying my 14 year old " crush " . I'll tell you how that happened another time. I often wonder why Florida is called the Sunshine State. It should be called the LIghtening State. THe lightening is getting more intense, so I'm going to cut this intro short. I've got much more to tell you about me. But I'll try again tomorrow. I look forward to meeting you and learning more about you. Till the lightening stops, Sheila Simsay33446@...
Guest guest
Sheila, Welcome to Affirmations!!! My, you have such an interesting life! I was on the edge of my seat listening to you. You'll have to share more when the lightning stops. I know what you mean, we seem to have an awful lot of lightning storms in Texas too. And, it seems they get more fierce all the time!! Maybe, that is just the times. Have a terrific holiday weekend, and hope the weather improves for you tomorrow! Hugs, PJ " Sheila K. " wrote: Hi: I'm another new member. Guest guest
Hi. I just recently joined the group. I'm Niki from North Carolina. I'm 33 and single. I have anxiety disorder and other medical problems like mild hearing loss. As the shy, nervous type, it doesn't take much for me to stress out. I'm a freelance writer. I find writing helps me to relax. During periods of high stress, I kept a journal. I'm glad to be here and am sure I will enjoy the group. Guest guest
Hello All- My name is and I have a 5 year old daughter that was diagnosed when she was 2. I also have 3 boys (not on the spectrum) ages 14, 7, and 6. My daughter is very loving and happy but her cognitive skills leave much to be desired. My fear now is of the " retarded " label that is sure to come with her next doctor visit. She repeats everything she hears, loves to sing, but can't do the simple things like point to Daddy or her brothers, or identify body parts, etc. We are still working on finding good doctors and therapists in the Riverside, San Bernardino area so if anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them. Thanks for letting me join! I hope to learn lots and hopefully, I can contribute some as well.
Guest guest
Hi! Have you looked into TACA? They have various groups in CA. McCarthy is now the spokesperson, but they were founded by Ackerman to help moms and dads and they have a lot of resources. Welcome to the group! I have a 4yo daughter with autism. She was also diagnosed at age 2. Marie lamsmom1 wrote: Hello All- My name is and I have a 5 year old daughter that was diagnosed when she was 2. Guest guest
Hello , My name is , I am new here too. I also have a 5yr old dauther that was diagnosed at around 19 months. She too is very loving and sweet. We work on things all the time with her. She also has some cognetive deficits, but I still feel she is doing really well. I dread every doctor visit. I don't seem to like doctors very much these days. My daughter had difficulty communicating and we use a PECS system at home to keep her on track. We love our Picture Exchange Communciation System. I just wanted to introduce myself, since our timeline seems to have much in common. > > Hello All- My name is and I have a 5 year old daughter that > was diagnosed when she was 2.
