Guest guest
yes, it does have something to do with hep c have the doctor check your ammonia levelit also helps not to eat a lot of meat.NoeLaniTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Sent: Monday, April 27, 2009 11:57:11 AMSubject: Re: new to group Jax thanks for the nice reply. I am having my 5th hernia surgery (3rd in 2 yrs) this Friday I quit smoking and lost about 15 lbs hoping this would help me not to have to go through this again so we will see what happens. Speaking of my devil oops I meant my daughter lol she is very grown for 12 yrs she sat with me the other day and asked if had something written down so that if God forbid I died during surgery or while I am down in Mexico after the surgery (visiting my husband) that there was someone to take care of her, I think she is worried because I have no family (well I do but haven't seen them in over 20 yrs. ) so I told her I have a guardian agreement and power of attorney with her best friends mom so I am hoping she isn't so worried about this. My son says he will just live on his own LMAO he would starve to death and be wearing dirty clothes, he is a great kid just very very lazy! Anyway I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there is any correlation between my memory loss and hep c? I am not treating and I am wondering if maybe all the toxins are effecting my brain. I am talking about forgetting names and words, or just calling things by the wrong name. My son seems to think its funny and it is at times but very frustrating when I am trying hard to remember what the word is. So if anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. The delivery went well it was after that all hell broke loose my placenta had grown into the wall (there is a name for it but again its been 13 yrs and I have an old brain so I don't remember what they call it) and I ended up in surgery. Guest guest
We (my sister and I) have noticed that 's short term memory is going. Also he talks extremly slow. We believe it is due to the Hep C. His long term memory seems to be better than his short term. For example, my parents used to have a different phone number, but have had the current number for over 10 years. I heard him giving someone the phone number and it was the old one. I corrected him and he gave the people hte correct number. My sister and I don't see every day, so we can see the changes. ---- Chiara Rosillo wrote: > Jax thanks for the nice reply. Guest guest
My family says I snore like a bear but I think they are hearing things LOL. My non sleeping has been going on for many many years. My old counselor said she thinks it has to do with on of my mental illnesses, I am just crazy so I have been doing this for years. I sleep well when my husband is next to me but when I am alone here with the kids I stay up it has gotten better I use to wait for the sun to come up now my body gets tired around 4-5 am. I sleep only about 5 hrs. a day. I think that is a big reason I always feel worn out. I understand its a lot of mental stress I am going through and it doesn't help my hep that's for sure, but this is as good as it gets for now. They use to give me seraquil (spelling might be wrong) but I stopped taking that way to strong for me. Thanks, Chiara Fantasy not only gets you out of reality, it brings you back. Guest guest
well you are young for menopause but not perimenopause,, I started through it by my 43rd birthday and it was over when I was 46. so its possible and it does seem that those of us with hep do go through it earlier than those who dont have the virus... you can ask your doc and he can do a simple blood test to see where you are in this.. best of luck, jax From: Chiara Rosillo <chiara3363yahoo (DOT) com>Subject: Re: [Hepatitis_C_ Central] new to groupTo: Hepatitis_C_ Central@yahoogro ups.comDate: Sunday, April 26, 2009, 8:34 AM Hi , Welcome to the group. Guest guest
HI JACK! Welcome to the group! Im glad you found us and I hope we can be of some help in your struggle with this virus that has us all in its grip! I think the symptoms you are enduring are pretty normal but they can be permanent as well.. Im left with serious concentration issues and I've been off tx now for 6 years. Even tho I am SVR, I was badly damaged by the treatment BUT MOST PPL dont end up like me,, its kind of a crap shoot... I've heard many ppl say that after all the tx drugs are out of their systems, that they do feel better... What IM wondering is why your doc continued your tx when were not clear or undetectible at week 12 as the stats show that you will likely relapse or never get fully clear of the virus. You may have to treat more than once as many ppl have had to do that in order to reach SVR. What geno are you? Geno 1 and 4 are both hard to clear but any and all genotypes can relapse or not reach the stage of being undetectible.. thats why we need more new drugs to help us clear this virus but most of the drug money goes to HIV.... Please feel free to ask us any questions you have or just to blow off steam here as we're here for ya!! welcome again to the group! jax Subject: New to groupTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009, 11:02 AM Hi everyone,I'm new to the group but not Hep C. I contracted the disease in the mid-70's and in 2001 it kicked into high gear. I've been through attempts at Interferon regimens three times but my platelets/and or red cells tanked after 2-3 months. This is my fourth run through and I've made it just about to my fifth month. My viral load in the first 3 1/2 mo dropped from 1.5 million to 35,000. My side effects seem to be getting worse as I progress. The anxiety/mood swings are always present but I can deal with them. Lately though I've had balance and vision issues as well as memory loss and difficulty in concentrating. My question is basically do these issues resolve quickly once therapy is stopped or do they persist for a short/long period of time. Any comments would help. Most people don't get what I'm going through so I'm grateful to reach out to this group.Jack
Guest guest
Hi Deborah, I am from Kansas. I just started this group recently and I am in the very beggining of getting ready to treat. I went to the gastro doc yesterday. I have my liver biopsy on first friday of Dec. I am pretty scared and I don't think there is a wrong or right way to how you deal with it. You got to keep as positive as you can to help your through it. That is a major thing that will help you through this and a good support system. I have been working on all this myself. I am trying to get over the why me and my pitty pot. I am going to beat this. I am geno type 1. She told me it was the worst. You can find stuff all over the internet about it all but be careful there is good and bad info. Don't let it scare you the info. Just think how much better you can be when you get it all done. This seems to be a real friendly and understanding group of people that are going through this or have been or had someone who has or even has a lot of knowledge about it. It sure has been a big help for me. I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C on October 22. It has been a huge shock to me. I am not sure how or when I contracted it. I have had an ultrasound. I went to the gastro last Tuesday. He ordered tons of blood tests. I know he is checking for genotype, viral load and some other stuff. One of the blood tests is for copper? Why? I am not home to tell you what tests he ordered. Mitochodrial was one of the blood tests. How do you deal with the initial shock? The gastro thought I could have contracted it during my marriage. I have been divorced for 6 years now. I did have a C-section in early 1992. I am worried about my son having it. I did breast feed for a year.I hope this is the correct protocol for this group. I know I need support from people that have and are going through this. -- Deborah
Guest guest
Welcome to the group Deborah . The chances of spreading through breast milk is 0% , I have 5 and 4 were breast fed after my diagnosis . And none of my children tested positive . Not sure why your doc would check for copper , iron is one that should be checked though and it sounds like the other stuff if spot on correct . Guest guest
Hi Deborah, I am new to this group as well and have Hep "C". I am getting ready to start treatments as I know God will see me through and he will see you through this disease as well. Have faith and trust in God that all will be ok. I had a "C' section with my little girl six years ago and she did not have Hep "C", THANK GOD!! so don't worry to much about that, you can always have your child tested just to make sure. Hang in there ok and God bless you! Subject: New to groupTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Tuesday, November 24, 2009, 2:15 PM Hi everyone,I am new to the group. Guest guest
Hi Deborah, First off, welcome to the group! You'll find lots of caring folks here who really do want to help you through this just as they were helped! What we typically tell the new folks is to get copies of EVERYTHING from your doc and keep it in a file at home for quick reference as things go along! Let us know when you get all those results back! hugs, jax To: Hepatitis_C_Central Sent: Tue, November 24, 2009 2:15:57 PMSubject: New to group Hi everyone,I am new to the group. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.  The nurse called and left a message that all the tests are back.  She made me an appointment for next Wednesday. I don't know if I can't wait another week.   I did call the nurse back asking if she could at least tell me viral load and genotype. I doubt she will give me the information.   What foods should I eat to promote liver health? I know to stay away from alcohol, tylenol. What else should I avoid? I don't drink or smoke.    My son is 17. I had the C-Section in 1992.   I need to run. I am at work and hoping to have Thanksgiving off.   Deborah
Guest guest
Hi, Deborah! I agree with you that waiting for test results is the worst! Most of us have an understanding with our Docs that absolutely ALL test results, whether it be biopsy, ultrasound, MRI, or the frequent blood tests are faxed or mailed to us. I have weekly blood work right now, and I receive the results via fax within 24 hours. And, I save absolutely all results in a file. If you get a prescription for a test at a lab or radiology place, your fax number MUST be on the script, or it will not be forwarded to you. You can get a basic fax for under $30.00 if you don't have one. This will really help keep your stress level down. You have the legal right to all these records, so don't back down! Best of luck, and please post your test results whenever you do receive them.

Guest guest
hi deborah, I know its hard waiting, I know.. Tylenol is only bad for your liver if you use too much, it is still the safest for those of us with hep c to use for pain as long as we do not exceed a daily total of 2000 mg of it. You can also take advil if you dont have a problem with it as long as you dont exceed 1600 mg per 24 hour day. You take take them both in 24 hours as long as you dont exceed the maximum doses. You just need to eat well, a good balanced diet, lots of fresh fruit and veggies, whole grains, low fat proteins, etc,, you know, a regular diet but yep, NO alcohol.. When and if you do treatment, the treatment nurse will tell you that its important to eat a protein based diet to help the treatment work better.. but first things first hon.. I'd say trying to get used to drinking lots and lots of FILTERED water every day is a good start. it helps to flush out the toxins in your body, especially when you're on treatment. you need to drink half of your weight in pounds, half in ounces,, so if you weigh say 120 pounds, you need to consume at least 60 ounces of filtered water.. hugs, jax To: Hepatitis_C_Central Sent: Wed, November 25, 2009 1:47:10 PMSubject: Re: New to group Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Guest guest
The HCV PCR RNA QUANTIVE IS your viral load number which is reflected as a number and a log number … The genotyping is just to find out which geno species you are which will tell them how long to treat and also how hard it will be to reach a sustained viralogical response . The ferritin is your iron level which with advance hep c will be high and can lead to organ damage in the liver , heart , and kidneys . The other tests I believe are to see if you have autoimmune hep . The others could also be what they refer to as tumor markers but I could be wrong , my head is not right tonight lol From: Hepatitis_C_Central [mailto:Hepatitis_C_Central ] On Behalf Of Deborah Sent: Wednesday, November 25, 2009 9:27 PM To: Hepatitis_C_Central Subject: Re: New to group Here is the list of blood tests Gastro ordered. Guest guest
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin is a test to see if you have that deficiency gene that causes liver disease or emphysema. I am a carrier of that gene. Penny > > Here is the list of blood tests Gastro ordered. No results until my visit > on December 2nd. Guest guest
Hello my name is and i want to give you the warmest welcome To: autism-georgia Sent: Tue, January 18, 2011 11:12:53 AMSubject: New to group Hi There,I'm new to the group. I have a 3-1/2 year old son with Aspergers. He was diagnosed in October. To say the least it's been quite overwhelming and an emotional rollercoaster. He used to go to Montessori school but we pulled him out because he said it was too loud and also they were too many kids in the class. Also, the teachers weren't equipped to handle him. Anyway, we live in Cobb County and had the evaluation. We took a tour of the school our son would be assigned.. Riverside Elementary in Mableton. I'm not sure what to think about it. The assistant principal gave us a tour. He couldn't answer any questions and referred everything back to when the IEP is determined. I asked if they learned anything academically and he said well not at this age but when they are 4. I asked about discipline and he couldn't really answer that and said they don't really have any problems like that with the little one. Also, there are not any kids with Aspergers in the class. I think there's maybe one child with autism. I realize our son needs to work on social skills and behavior like being a better listener, but I'm already questioning if this school is going to work for him. Now, I'm wondering where he belongs and if we'll be able to find the right school for him without spending a fortune. Our home school Harmony Leland is full so that's why were assigned to this school. If anyone have any suggestions or advice or any info on any of these schools please I'd love to hear from you. Also, any suggestions on preparing for the IEP I'd love to hear as well. When the asst. principal told me he would be there along with 11 other people in the room who don't know my son I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I can't imagine a room full of people who don't know my son determining his academic future. Thanks for listening! He
