Ann:

To further clarify! We have all walks of life on this forum. We have

Doctors, Nurses, plain old people like me and (oops s not old just

Me) and a lot of others so it is very hard to speak the speak of which you are

talking so please keep it down to the normal level and if you wish to discuss

technical with someone who knows technical well all well and good but with a

forum that is for everyone it is best to keep it non-technical. Even being a lay

person I'm sure I could keep up with one of the best research Docs around. But

there is no need for it here. Thats all we are trying to say. So don't take me

wrong please? Everyone on here is trying to live and learn and LOVE everyone the

same! But then again if everyone was the same this World would be one hell of a

boring place and it is bad enough as it is! Take care now. LOVE ya'LL!

Brett,

Stress! Whats that? LOL I sure can identify. And is know sress can/and does

cause flares. I didn't mean to lump all, as melt phrased it. I have taken

these medications for stress. And has helped tremendously. Are the latest ones

out that have read/talked to too many people who have severe side effects.

Several years ago, when bitten by a brown recluse spider, the Dr gave me

ativan.. I almost lost my foot. Gangrene set in. Then going thru the bout of

my moms cancer and dads. Was Stressed out bad. When in a flare, the one Dr gave

me so much elavil, had such a violent reaction to it. Then, when looked up the

side effects, now know why. My audiologist's mom's Dr gave her

neurontin/elavil. the poor woman couldn't hardly walk. Was falling. I knew of

the side effects of these drugs, and suggested that those meds may be the

problem. Last time talked to her, her mom was off those meds and doing well.

So many people with ailments, some Drs say " it's all in yout head " and hand out

these meds like candy. When the facts are, they have a real medical problem.

I apologize to melt, that she took what I was trying to say wrong. I believe it

was Lara, or Dani, that because one is on a mild antidepressant, some people

just say the person must be crazy . Should have worded the post differently.

Am use to the posts on my medical forum. Where we professionals know what each

other mean. There are more lay persons on here, so will have to watch how I

post things. I had felt the few posts, people understood me. Evidentally not.

Am into more herbals, etc now. And use them more for stress, etc. My deepest

apologies to melt for feeling I was lumping all things together. Am glad she

found something that has helped her. When an oldie like I has been thru so

much, worked in the medical field, and have seen/experienced such bad side

effects....is natural to try and warn others. My psychology internship/ and

working with people has helped me a lot. Several of my colleagues are wishing

these new drugs haven't come out. If I remember right, was thalomide, used as

an antiemetic and sleep aid at one time, thus all the deformed babies born :-(

http://www.lupus.org/education/articles/thalidomide.html

So to clarify, use of antipsychotics when needed is not " as melt said " lumping

crazy people "

Best regards,

Ann

Re: Medications

Dear Ann;

I am not severely schizophrenic and am not severely mentally disabled but DO

take an anti-psychotic medication that has saved my life. .

I am all for posting different opinions about different medications but please

do not lump conditions and medications and make such broad statements.

Thank you, Melt

Since Bob approved my posting of medical news/findings...will post it. All

of us with chronic pain suffer from depression But when the Drs use a

psychotic drug, for pain issues...sigh... Some on here may disagree with my

outlook on these New drugs. I have had too many bad experiences, side effects.

Have been handed these anti-psychotic drugs in samples and now, tell them to

take the darn things back. I don't want any part in them. Severe

shizophrenics, those with severe mental ailments need them.
