Guest guest
I am no fan of cold weather, by a long shot! Too bad it's not supposed to get cold enough to freeze, or we might get out of work/school tomorrow for an ice storm since it's also rainy. > Hey, a punching bag sounds like a good workout!!! > > It was 80* here again today. Guest guest
Oh it was great! Definitely enough to satisfy any sweet tooth for at least a week, if not all the way to Christmas! > But wasn't it delicious while you were eating it!!! I'm telling you - the free day is probably a BIG reason why I could stick to BFL so well. > > Sara
Guest guest
Barbara Only you know what is best for your mom. Please don't feel selfish for wanting to do what is in your heart. The time may come when you will need to turn to meds., but for now, if your mom asking for her deceased mother is the worse it gets, I would feel lucky. In redirecting, have you tried telling your mom that her mom is on her way, just to be patient. Or tell her that her mom is busy at the moment. I wish I had more help to offer. Please do keep us posted. My prayers are with you. Sandie Des Moines, IA

Guest guest
I can relate to every word you're saying. My husband has Alzheimer's. I've found that I have to force myself to get out and take time for myself. Otherwise I get so depressed that I feel like life isn't worth living and I snap at my husband who really can't do anything about the way he's acting. Go for a walk. Read a book. Let the house get dirtier. It can't need cleaning every minute. Believe me, it's hard to take a break, but I've learned that if I don't, I can't function and if I can't function, nothing ever gets done. My husband can't contribute very much to helping around the house. So " if it's going to be, it's up to me. " But there's no me unless I take time out for me. So what are you going to do for yourself on Saturday Barbara? And what about Sunday? I think it would help you if you jotted down a few things that you enjoy that don't involve money. Reading is free. Walking is free. Looking at or listening to birds is free. What about going to the library and taking out books or tapes from the humor section. I took Mel annd Carl Reiner's 2,000 year old man CD's out of the library. Not every joke was funny. But there were some that did make me smile or laugh. It helped. Do you have a friend nearby that you could get together with? Do you knit? I don't know anything about you. SO I do't know what you like to do. Taking time for yourself is essential to living. Remember, you are a human BEING, not a human DOING. Hope I've convinced you to take care of you. You are the only one who can do that? How about a bath? That can be really pampering. OK, I " m stopping the lecture now. Hope the combination of venting and taking time for you tomorrow and Sunday helps you feel better. Guest guest
Hey Barbara! Technology is a wonderful thing!!! My surgery is on Monday: This coming Monday!! Almost there! The pain is sooooo bad today that my entire lower extremities are just throbbing.....the right one is, well ,broken as we know and the left one is tired of picking up all the slack!! I am sure I walk too much, but, being a Physical Therapist, I am ,one: not very compliant, and, two: know the importance of movement. AND, being type A, like most of us here, I don't know when to stop!! I am looking forward to the PT in the hospital...the therapists are all friends of ours and we have a good time together! The doc prescribed homehealth PT after my last THA in March. The PT came out twice and that was that....I guess he figured I knew enogh to rehab on my own....I do, but the encouragement would have been nice. Anyway, my elbows....how to explain....an OTR friend of ours coined the term " fallen " elbows. Normally, there is a straight plane level from the Olecranon Procees to the wrist (Styloid Process of the Ulna)....My line runs at an oblique with the Olecranon quite a bit lower....blew my mind first time I saw this in a mirror! It is apparently common to RA patients......The Decub's have mostly closed. I've been very careful not to rest on my elbows.....I too have performed wound care on folks with decub'c to the bone....especially, Sacral. And, no, i'm not diabetic. I think it's just more of the effects of Prednisone.....I bruise and " slice " much easier than ever before, and, the healing takes so much longer. In fact, my surgeon told me that the delayed healing would be my biggest surgical side effect. Ah the joys of AOSD and the Meds.!! lol. Anyway, it is so good to hear from you again!! I certainly appreciate your prayers and know that you are in mine!!! God Bless you! Love ya , my friend! Guest guest
Hi Larry I am responding to your comments about your MRI. I also recently had an MRI with some 'small lesions' that could be demyelinating in nature. I've seen a neurologist and he doesn't think it's MS (thank goodness because I agree with you I'd rather have Still's any day than MS). Anyway, I'm getting a referral to another neurologist because he told me he doesn't know what my problem is. I didn't think that stroke shows up as demylinating on MRI??? Though I'm not a neurologist, nor a radiologist so I don't know, but that struck me as odd. I pray for you that you don't have MS or any other bad neuro demyelinating disease creeping up. It's scary, I know. Keep me posted ok? Guest guest
I have been doing a literature review regarding Still's and came accross two abstracts that discuss lesions associated with Still's. I have included some of the info in case you want to discuss it further with your Rheumatologist. According to Dr. T. Shimohata et. al, " ...Although the precise reason for the MRI lesions was unclear, we thought they were CNS manifestations of Still's disease. We suggest that AOSD is one of the causes of focal CNS involvement in young adults, particularly who has a history of fever of unknown origin. " The other refered to Still's possibly being a source of aseptic meningitis. Re: Barbara I also have lesions in my brain ( 9 to be exact ) my neurologist ruled out MS after having a lot of tests done. He concluded the lesions are inflammation caused by stills.
