All quiet on the western front

It certainly is quiet Mel. I usually receive several digests a day

but am now only getting one late at night. Hope your son is coping

with the school situation. It's hard to know whether you should get

him out of there or not. Depends how torturous it is for him. The

end of the year is so close. Surely he's not that bad.

Let's see now...

Was teaching class the other day and my pants fell down. Luckily I

was at the back of the room getting a glass of water. I teach adults

so if some saw, they didn't let on. How embarrassing! I have

invested in some safety pins.

Getting annoyed with restriction wearing off soon after a fill.

Thought it had all gone away but I had a cabbage roll today and that

didn't go down to well. Managed to hold on it it however. I was

surprised as I thought it wasn't working. I guess I'm just used to

choosing food that doesn't cause a problem.

The paying for fills situation is annoying. Now I've used my 4 fills

from the 'package deal', I have to pay $270 + $75 for the hospital.

I get just under $100 back from medicare. I wish there were a

cheaper way to do it.

I hope you are all doing well. It's raining here so I'm off to the

gym. Aren't I good? It shuts at 9.30pm but I always manage to

procrastinate until 8.30 or so before I leave. Of course, want to

get back in time for Chaser and/or Summer Heights High.

Hi Ann, Mel adn Everyone

It is embarressing, something similiar happened to me when running to a medical emergency when I was still working, the pants did fall down, and I ended up head over heals, the next day new trousers were purchased....

Time has gotten away from me, plus my computer has been the most unreliable piece of equipment in my house, crashing many times, as it has become old and disabled, a bit like it's owner.. lol.. it is limping along now, but the solution arrives next week, I have bought a new computer and I pick this up next week, thank goodness for a Christmas Club one puts money into and forgets lol...

Well it is nearly 6 months since I finished up at work, things have been a lot better since leaving work, now when I feel crook I can go and lay down, which was what I had to do on Monday. Went and saw Dr K the neurolgist at town today, he is such a gentleman, I'd been having these what I've affectionately called "Funny Turns' great professional terminology for an ex Nursing Supervisor, even my Doctor could not pin point them, I thought it was my heart, turns out I have 2 issues to deal with. has diagnosed me with BPPV, this is calle Benign Positional Paroxysmal Vertigo, which is basically chrystals that dislodge fronm my ear and cause more diziness but are spearate to the Denieres Disease I live with, never gave this a thought, so he has given me the range of exercises, so hope this makes life better, I keep real vertigo under control now with low sodium diet, but I am finding it harder to get low or no salt foods, since Coles now seem to have mainly their own products, a lot of my staples are falling off the shelves, . I've not started going a couple of suburbs over to Woolworth's, for I believe Coles is letting us down as customers.

Secondly, my funny turns have been diagnosed a Migraine Auras, I do not get the headache, just wiped out for the rest of the day after them, so we are amending my medications and he is putting me on a Beta Blocker....... My blood pressure since giving up work ahs dropped to the level of a teenager, so this is impressive, given it was on Stroke Point 6 months ago.

So I will be quiet for a few days, I head off on Friday early. so I look forward to catching up with you an

Cheers

Hi Rob

My sympathy goes out to you as I also suffer from BPPV. But the

exercises do work and luckily I haven't had a dizzy attack for a

couple of years now. At its worst, it used to wake me up from my

sleep when I'd rollover in bed and get the whole room is spinning

sensation.

On the banding front, I'm now 1 week post-op and starting to feel

hungry. But am 3.5kgs down already. Haven't had the pants fall down

yet, but did try on a pair of trousers that used to be my favourites,

only to find that I don't need to undo them anymore. They are

definitely going to be my " before " trousers I think!!

Have fun with the new computer next week, love to get new toys

myself!!

Cheers

Gail

Hi Rob,

I really sympatise with you. I have also been diagnosed with BPPV a

couple of weeks ago. I have been suffering for about 8 months now and

didn't really think much of it till I had a check up with neuro for

face spams and he knew what the dizzys were right away.

I wish you all the best in getting everything sorted out. It's nice

to hear someone else knows about BPPV, I have been feeling like a

freek.

Take it easy.
