Just thought I'd share the understanding. I use heat and ice. Guest guest
The best way I would describe this arthritis is when I would say, " Someone real strong just smashed me with a baseball bat " . I remember when I could walk but the joints in my upper body were bad. It was close to impossible to drive the car. Hugs and a restful day Liz
Guest guest
Hi , The spasms maybe related to possible electrolyte imbalances (if you're taking steroids). The prednisone plays havoc with calcium and potassium..........BUTTT., I'm not on the steroids anymore and I occasionally get severe spasms in my calf muscles (usually after a long night at the hospital)...The only way I can relieve the spasm is to flex my leg the instant I feel the spasm. Hurts like hell initially, but it stops the spasm..............Good luck.... Beth G Houston
Guest guest
Dear Muffy, These " tremors " are really muscle spasms. I get these all the time and can watch the skin move around by itself. It's very disturbing to see, but harmless. You kind of have to accept that your own body is not really under your control anymore with this , that's the way I look at it. The tremors get worse when I'm tired. You can go through periods where you get them alot and then a reprieve where it happens a lot less. As for the arm pain, Stills can do this too. I've had days where I can hardly move my arm and then the next day it's fine. There are so many things with this disease that just don't make any sense. Thanks for posting about this, beth
Guest guest
Hiya Muffy, I don't get tremors persay, but I do get the muscle spasms. Either in my neck, hand, or foot, it will just contract and stay there. It hurts and is scary. I wish I knew what it was. Houston

Guest guest
I am wondering if this is due to a metabolic disturbance that we get with Still's. Some doctors have postulated that Still's is less of an autoimmune disorder than a metabolic disorder. That's why it affects absolutely everything in the body. But the question is, metabolic disturbance of what? Is this where the high Ferritin level can come from? Anybody have more info? -beth
Guest guest
HI Muffy, I can relate. I too have the spasm and tremors at times. In fact, I was having the tremors yesterday REAL bad. Have you tried adding extra calcium and Vit.D to help out? And don't forget the magnesium to be taken with these two. It really helps out with the spasms. I hope you are feeling better with this and that your day is a low pain day for you. , Oregon > > hey, kids -- > > has anyone else on the list had issues with involuntary muscle tremors > and/or spasms? > > > thanks! this list is a godsend (even for a heathen like me!) > > =;-) > > xoxo > muffy > > > -- SPEEDY :-) Meds: MTX 15 mg; Prednisone 5mg; Leucovorin 5 mg; Armour Thyroid 60 mg Supporters: MSM; DHEA 25 mg; Omega3 fish oil 8 daily; Vit. Guest guest
Hello, You mentioned that your shoulder has been painful. There is a nerve that runs down the outside of the arm to the elbow and then continues to the wrist area. Anytime a joint is inflammed it can cause the nerves to get compressed due to the swelling and these nerves do not act like they should. Let your doctor know what all you are expirencing. I hope this info helps you. Guest guest
Hiya Beth, I don't take pred and it's not the same feeling as a charlie horse - though it may very well be the same thing causing it. And they don't occur at particular times, like say when my diet isn't all that great - like charlie horses do. It happens usually when I'm flaring some and have been feeling the flare and my body's tired from it. It's really strange and it freaks me out every time when it happens in my neck - I'm afraid it's going to get stuck like that! lol Houston
Guest guest
, Remind me of the ratios to take of Calcium to Vit. D to Magnesium. Guest guest
I know I am late in responding to the tremor issue, but I just wanted to say that my " tremors " were coming on strong out of nowhere and the working diagnosis is MS, though they don't really think so as of right now. Turns out my tonsils at my brainstem are elongated, reducing CSF. I stutter/slur and have difficulty finding the right words to say. I get a little dizzy at night, light-headed, and am off balance. I had difficulty swallowing a while back. Does anyone have anything similar? Does anyone have any information at all? Guest guest
Kate, I have had all the symptoms you described, plus I have lesions in my brain. But the lumbar puncture I had ruled out MS for now. Neuro doc said lesions were caused by the still's. I wish I had some info for you but I don't. Hope you can find out what's wrong so you can start to feel better. Brett Tacoma, WA. Guest guest
Thanks Brett. My MRI didn't show lesions or MS, but the sypmtoms are still present so we haven't completely ruled anything out or in. I guess I just have to wait and see...though I wish I didn't have to wait so long. Take care.
