Guest guest
I feel really silly because I am so overwelmed I didn't ask a question but titled the thread a Question about dyes. What I really should have said was Possible Issue with Dyes/Losing my Mind... > > I am having a really scary day for moms with my 9 year old home very sick with a temp up to 103 at times and she is very lethargic. I am frustrated and just left another message with her Dr's assistant who is supposed to be getting her approved for the Allergy Testing. > Usually it is very quick with Tri Care to get approvals so I don't know why it is taking so long! I even spoke to the Dr on the phone last Fri and she reassured me they are working on it. > > Anyway she has a flu or virus and I feel terrible because it just dawned on me that I think she has a dye allergy or sensitivity which made her throw up a bunch of times in the middle of the night after giving her Motrin with dyes in it! Why I didn't figure this out the last time she was sick weeks ago I don't know but she had the same reaction then too. She doesn't have a stomach flu, just a high temp and fatigue and cannot eat. I also realized her Tylenol has dyes too and she had that yesterday afternoon...So I have been poisoning my little girl who has all the OCD symptoms that are not being treated yet either except with the Play Therapist that we cancelled. > > I have been overwelmed trying to do too many things and have had my own medical issues to deal with so I haven't found a new therapist but it's on my long list of things to urgently do this week. Now my child is home very ill and I am furious that I haven't been able to get her allergy testing already and feeling bad that I didn't think about the dyes since this is all new to me. I sent my husband to the store and he did find dye free fever reducers and will be home with them soon but I needed to get some support today! If I sound anxious I am and that is one thing I am trying to get help with myself right now. > Thanks, > >
Guest guest
Try to get her fever down the fastest way is to help her to the car and put on the air conditioner. You can try a cool bath but kids this sick want to lay down. There are suppositories (called fever-all) that have tylenol in them get those. Perhaps she has a stomach virus or strep and will vomit whatever you give her orally. If she has been vomiting a lot feed her a teaspoon of pedalyte (or water) once every 10 min if she can keep it down. If she is so dehydrated that she does not urinate at least once in 4-6 hours call the doctor or urgent care to see if you should bring her in for hydrated (iv fluids), I hope it doesn't come to that. Let her sleep if she wants but make sure you get the fever-all. My daughter has lots of issues I know how scary a high fever is.
