Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, let us know if he shows improvement on the Augmentin. So - he wasn't increasing his OCD when he was sick a couple weeks ago but now is?? 's used to increase with a fever (no real other symptoms, just feeling bad...). Oh - was it strep related a couple weeks ago or something else?? > > has made tremendous strides over the past 6 weeks. He even managed well when his grandfather passed away recently. > > Interestingly, he was sick a couple of weeks ago and two days ago had a sudden onset of symptoms through to the present. I had a throat culture done when he was sick which was negative. His psychiatrist wants to try a round of Augmentin anyway. > > I have been somewhat skeptical of PANDAS, and here I am ruling out in my son. Toward the end of his last episode, his Anti -DNase titres were pretty high, but he was getting better and so we decided not to treat. I am giving him a probiotic as well as the augmentin to avoid stomach upset and diarrhea in my emetophobe....UGH! Let you know how it turns out. > > Bonnie > > PS I have also been looking into sensory stimulation as a way to compete or avoid those unanticipated physiological symptoms related to anxiety and have seen some improvement. Namely, we use large muscle exercises and activities or chores (vaccuuming is a great way to do this and earn an allowance). I also keep one of those balance balls in the family room that he likes to roll on or sit on while watching TV - it helps with that inner restlessness. Anyway, it's one of those complimentary therapeutic efforts that I thought I would share. >
Guest guest
Perhaps it is or isn't PANDAS but I see in my daughter that sinus infections always trigger severe anxiety and irritablity. We don't start the antibodics until she is stuffy for at least a week (doctors idea not mine). Then look out. School and social anxiety, more OCD. The last six weeks have been tough for us. But I see she is getting better day by day. I hope feels better soon. Pam > > has made tremendous strides over the past 6 weeks. Guest guest
Was it your father who passed away, Bonnie? Sorry to hear or your family's loss. Let us know how does on the Augmentin. So sorry he's had this setback. He's made such progress. Hoping he doesn't lose it. BJ > > has made tremendous strides over the past 6 weeks. Guest guest
No he was, fine a couple of weeks ago (when he was actually sick). It was as if someone had flipped a switch...it's always like that and then it seems it escalates, his behavior spirals and then he beigins to get better. He's on day 4 of antibiotics, no worsening in his behavior, maybe a little improvement. Curious, isn't it? BOnnie > > > > has made tremendous strides over the past 6 weeks. Guest guest
Thanks. I hope things get better for you too. Bonnie PS It was Dr. Hollander who wanted to treat with Augmentin > > > > has made tremendous strides over the past 6 weeks. Guest guest
Thank you. It was my father-in-law, a dear man who loved and was loved in return. is hanging in there - no worse at present, still functioning. Bonnie > > > > has made tremendous strides over the past 6 weeks.
