Hi there,

Our New Years started off with a bang indeed. This is when my daughter changed.

She went from a very bright, creative, humourous helpful girl to a little girl

with anger, aggression, fears, etc etc. It was like she went to bed one child

and woke up a different one. This is all very new to us and we are having a

hard time coping.

I am not new to the area of behaviour management and special needs children. I

have worked in the feild for over 16 years. I know what I'm doing HOWEVER, I

raised a child for ten years and I feel like I have to reparent all over again.

My daughter talks alot about being " stuck. " She cannot make decisions on her

own anymore. This coming from a child who could run the country. She needs to

repeat words or phrases. She cannot have me out of her site if we are together.

Again, this from a child who goes to her grandparents cottage for a month in the

summer with me. She is a collector of " things. " Anything could be found in her

pockets and she will not throw anything out. We have to force her throw out

food that has been left. When we do not give into her obsessions or rituals she

freaks. She will yell, scream, throw things, threaten harm to anyone that gets

in her way. When she finally calms down, she gets so upset and asks what is

happening to her. She knows that she has anxiety and OCD but she does not know

why her brain makes her do those things. She is a strong willed child by nature

and sometimes that is to her advantage....othertimes not so much. She can fight

the OCD for some small things but most of the time OCD wins and so we see the

aggression more and more. Again, this coming from a child who was very

compassionate toward others.

I feel like a prisoner in my own home and I am afraid when she asks me a

question because if I don't give her the answer SHE wants she will go into anger

mode.

She is also a keeper of the time. One day when her anxiety was so severe, she

told me the time every minute for a half hour. When I blocked the clock, she

got extremely angry. Luckily we were in the car and she couldn't throw anything

at me.

Please help. I need advice on how to cope.

Thanks
