Guest guest
Hi again, I accidentally " sent " instead of " saved. " Here's the rest. We feel very isolated. We know plenty of parents with autistic kids but none with OCD. Our son made some excellent progress when he first began therapy with his current psychiatrist but has been stalled for several months. He's missed so much school that the principal is giving us a hard time about his attendance and he is rarely able to complete his school work. In the meantime, the rules at home sometimes become quite complex, and the stress of dealing with his condition affects us all. Though he is much happier than he was a year ago and he doesn't melt down as frequently, he still loses control about once a week and sometimes hurts himself in the midst of a tantrum (tearing out hair or biting his arm). It's often hard to tell when we are being properly supportive and when we are participating to much in his rituals. Though we recognize that his therapy will be a gradual process, it's hard not to worry that he will never be happy or be able to function normally. It's good to find a group of other parents that are dealing with the same issues. Thanks for reading. Tori
