Guest guest
Hi, My youngest son, who is 13, was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was six and with OCD last year. His older brother also has Asperger's so we're very familiar with behaviors associated with autism, but about two years ago, our youngest began frequently displaying behaviors that were unfamiliar to us and they began to escalate fairly quickly. It wasn't until he began insisting on multiple baths a day that we began to suspect OCD. A lot of reading and research seemed to confirm our fears and we sought professional help. We tried a clinical psychologist, then a psychiatrist she recommended to no avail. Our son's anxiety escalated to the point that he could barely tolerate going to school and hem elted down into hysterics every day. We were terrified. Finally, we found a psychiatrist with experience in treating OCD. He put our son on an SSRI and began CBT.
Guest guest
Welcome to the group. How is he doing with the SSRI and CBT? Is the therapist using ERP too?
