Guest guest
I have to agree with you Dad, as I have the same problem. I also have found in my tracking that when I am not in a flare that my normal temps are in the range of 96.5 to 97.0, which for some people is normal and others it is not. But since I was dx'd I have kept closer tabs on my temps, and the doctors noticed the difference and discovered that what most people consider low grade temp is actually a high temp because of this querky little difference. With that concept in mind, I always check my temp via both ears as well as 4 times daily when not in a flare but increase to every 4 hrs during flares as per my RD. And my journal goes with me to each and every appointment with each doctor I have. But I would like to pose a thought questions or two: 1- Has anyone had any dealings with their feet wanting to turn inward, especially when your legs hurt and/or swollen? Mine have done this to the point that the orthopedic surgeon has put me into braces for both my ankles to where when this happens. As he is concerned that with prolonged inward turning that I could end up with my ankles deformed, etc. Though my right ankle was fractured in 2001 and still shows signs of the fracture not being completely healed yet, in the Triple Phase Bone Scans. 2- What does one do with their hands when they are hurting like cramping and it's hard to open them up because they hurt and swollen? And is this normal since my fingers are starting to arc and the joints are hot and tender anyway? I have recently started doing this with the latest flare up. And I am growing concerned as I must be able to write or type for school. I don't want to give up school as I am doing well with it and will be transfering to university in the fall of 07. Guess I have rattled long enough. Hugs and here's to a pain free day. Tracilyn

Guest guest
Tracilyn, I'd love to know the answer to this one too as I can't dry my hair or cut an onion due to this. It's pretty constant at this point and I'm becoming pretty worried. --- In Stillsdisease , Tracilyn Brown > 2- What does one do with their hands when they are hurting like cramping and it's hard to open them up because they hurt and swollen? Guest guest
I have noticed that my feet want to turn inward when I am flaring but I didn't think much of it at the time. And my ankles are weakening and falling inward. I find warm moist heat helps my hands when I have trouble with them. And sometimes the cold then heat help my hands--it just depends. Sounds like the fingers are starting to arch and do the arthritis tango with you. Have you seen your Dr. lately? If not, please get in and see him/her as soon as you can. There maybe something that can be down to slow this down. But it is something we have too learn to live with. I'm having the same troubles with my hands and wrists. The pain is unbelievable. I wish someone had the answers to all this. LOL. Wish I could be of more help. , Oregon > 1- Has anyone had any dealings with their feet wanting to turn inward, > especially when your legs hurt and/or swollen? > > 2- What does one do with their hands when they are hurting like cramping > and it's hard to open them up because they hurt and swollen? Guest guest
Hi there. In regards to your questions concerning your hand and foot problems. My mom is going through those type of problems now. We see the same person for my AOSD and her SLE Lupus. But she has been referred to specialist for her hands and feet. Was told by our doctor that they are able to do some amazing things now to help with what sounds like you are going through. My best to you. Guest guest
Dear , Thank you for sharing the information regarding the blood pressure problem. I will give you the name of the doctor when my mother returns. She has not had her appointment with him yet. So I can not give you an opinion of what kind of doctor he is. We were told by our referring physician that he is really good and uses some new methods that were not available a few years ago. She is having a lot of pain and problem with her hands especially the right hand that she needs so much. At first I thought it was because of the carpal tunnel surgery that she had a couple of years ago, but the doctor said it is arthritis. With her feet, she has restless legs syndrome. She says they feel like they are burning or on fire. It is very miserable when she tries to lay down to rest or sleep. And also has arthritis in them. So I will get the name to you later today. Take care . I hope you are doing well. Mandy
