Hi Jeannie,

will forward your post, but Dr. is our educational advisor, you may

want to be asking Dr.Chansky, our psychologist and someone who does ERP therapy.

You want to see your regular doctor for referral to a psychiatrist, but you can

go to a psychologist without doctor referral. I believe you just want to make

sure they are within your medical coverage area (I'm in Canada so it's a bit

different).

To find a trained psychologist you can go to -www.ocfoundation.org. This is

your best source for all information, they are the top international

organization. They have a list of psychologists and you can search by area.

However, these are not " recommended " doctors, just a list of doctors who provide

their names, you must do your own research with each one. They have a list of

questions to ask prospective doctors on this same site.

Other possibilities for finding a psychologist are hospitals, universities, esp

if they have mental health research, as well as local support groups. Often you

can find a name of someone and that name can lead to another.

If you put " looking for doctor in _________ " in a post someone on this site may

have a recommendation.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions or share anything here, we all have

experienced all kinds of things, and usually there is someone who will say their

child does the same things, or have suggestions on how to handle a situation.

Warmly,

Barb

Son, 19, OCD, LD plus -doing well for over 2 years

I do not want it treated with medication.

times before he moves on.
