Honestly, I think that senior year is wrought with a whole lot of anxiety over

the future and then the girlfriend situation made it so much harder. Sometimes

a growth spurt can change med needs and I have heard of them not working after a

while. However, when you consider the recent stressors that he has...well, my

first instinct is to blame the stress and to take the more conservative route

and dive into therapy before changing meds that have worked in the past.

Perhaps he does need a break from school or an intensive outpatient program. My

son (similar symptoms) always gets better when he is on homebound instruction

for a period (a much less stressful environment) and over the summer. Can he do

half days at school for a while and get some extra therapy?

We've had quite a go round with many antipsychotics and with benzodiazepines.

While the idea to change them was related to anxiety, they made my son's

symptoms worse and he developed new ones (intrusive thoughts about harm) - once

the dose was decreased, he was better though still not without anxiety until he

was home in a quiet environment. This is not to say that you should do the same,

this was only our experience.

Someone also told me about a program in Connecticut (Silver Hill), the person

who told me about it is a psychologist and he said he'd send his children there

if he needed to. http://www.silverhillhospital.org/ It's affiliated with Yale.

I feel for you more than you know as we are only coming out of the darkness just

now. I'll be looking for updates.

Bonnie
