Guest guest
My daughter took risperadal (sp?) with an antidepressant for treatment of ocd at 7 yrs. For the first two weeks, it was like a big deep breath of fresh air. but then it ramped up her symptoms. she started reporting on herself constantly (i think i broke that cup; i think i kissed that boy, etc., etc.) We changed it several times and did finally ended up with a cocktail of seroquel and abilify. abilify really lifted her mood and did not pack on the weight for her like some of the other things (like zyprexa). as far as meds go, abilify has been her best friend. right now, it is the only psych med that she's on. that being said, we've done so many different kinds of things, and i honestly think the thing that helped her the most has been a yeast detox diet, including nystatin and diflucan, probiotics, fish oil and several other supplements. after a week on the diet and the supplements (nothing else had changed), one day she said, " I think my OCD is gone! " the whole story about it is on my blog at www.findingmylittlegirllost.blogspot.com Sorry, it's kind of a mess there right now... this time last year we were looking for a hospital that would admit and treat her. now i can see the real her (and hug her!). lyndi
Guest guest
  Thank you for your story.  I am a firm believer in the food detox concept. Food sensitivity or intolerance is a    concern in our family that we have worked with over the years. Dairy and grains even in meat (animals fed a grain diet)    has been very revealing.  However my oldest son still has his OCD and I am still food testing to find the answer.    Sugar is also a problem too.    Antidepressants, mood stabilizers did not work.  We tried all meds you described and    still floundering as to what is the answer. I appreciate your wisdom and do you know if fish oil is the same as cod liver oil?   ________________________________ To: Sent: Fri, December 31, 2010 2:10:19 AM Subject: risperadal  My daughter took risperadal (sp?) with an antidepressant for treatment of ocd at 7 yrs.
