Guest guest
Hi Group, for those of you with older children, I am passing on to you this request to participate in a survey. It is from Holmes, a doctoral candidate at the College of & . The requirements to participate: 1. You must be over 18 years of age. 2. You are participating in either face-to-face or online counseling. 3. You must have seen your current counselor at least 3 times She is looking at the similarities and differences between online counseling and face-to-face counseling with regard to clients' relationships with their counselors and the presence they feel through the medium with which they meet with them. The survey is for those who do face-to-face or do any type of online counseling. It is confidential and anonymous, so no risk. She wrote: I am inquiring about using your support group website to recruit participants for my dissertation research! I am really interested in the new ability for counselors to provide services to clients through technology and am studying the similarities and differences between online and face-to-face counseling. I am a counselor and have been a client myself, so I understand the potential difficulty in fulfilling this request! Below is her information with the link to the survey. Online counseling, Skype, etc., is getting used a lot these days, thought some here may be interested in sharing experience/thoughts in the survey. Here's 's info: ********************** When President Bill Clinton took office in the early 1990's, he said " only high energy physicists had ever heard of what is called the Worldwide Web. " By the middle of his second term he laughed, " Now even my cat has its own page. " The field of therapy has been discussing possible applications of technology for more than 35 years. Online counseling, which has existed for over a decade, has enabled practitioners to provide aid to individuals who, without the aid of the Internet, would likely have gone without help. In an effort to both expand and improve the possibilities for online therapy, I am conducting a study that will compare it to more traditional, face-to-face counseling. As such, I am looking for participants who are currently enrolled in either face-to-face or online counseling. Your participation would be invaluable to my work. Your willingness to share your experiences as a client would not only provide much-needed perspective, it will help shape the field of counseling for years to come. In addition, by agreeing to take part in the study, you will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for one of four $25 VISA gift cards. If you are interested in participating please follow the link below. It will take you to my website which will explain the study with more detail. http://wmpeople.wm.edu/site/page/cmholmes With sincere thanks, Holmes cmholmes@...
