Guest guest
Thank you Barb. Will definitely go slow. My son is on 75mg Zoloftgeneric)which I've been told is low to begin with. It comes in 25mg tabs but are scored. I'm thinking 12.5mg at a time, but haven't actually researched it yet. Appt is Jan. 27th. I welcome any and advice or comments on Zoloft reduction. Thank you all. Leanne in WI RE> Just a recommendation to go slow with the dose reduction, in case this has not already been suggested. We reduced by 5mg over three month intervals (from 20mg celexa). Since it takes a good 3 months to see full effects when starting med, we were told to do the same reducing. We saw symptoms during reduction, but settled down within 1-3weeks. Our son is now on 10mg celexa and doing well. > > Wishing you continued success!!! > > Warmly, > Barb > > > >
Guest guest
That is low, Leanne. That is really promising. If he did so well on a low dose, I would think he could do well without it at all. Praying for the best for you. ) BJ > > > Thank you Barb. Will definitely go slow. Guest guest
As BJ says that is quite low, so hopefully your son can reduce to none. Ours does best on low dose of celexa, but we find he still needs it. He was on 20mg for a year and a half(higher doses prior with problems), he was doing well for a year when we decided to decrease. We were able to cut the dose in half, but dropping below that the anxiety and volume of OCD increased substantially. We were told many need medication for life, maybe that part is brain chemistry that just needs that assist. It is individual though. I'm guessing you are probably already planning to keep a journal to track this. It helps as things can slide imperceptibly and that sly OCD can just sneak up on you.... If your son truly has the tools to deal with it he'll be ok. Kind of a good test on this, we found. Also found that sometimes no amount of medication or knowing what to do stops some obsessions, and as they get older the obsessions can be more sophisticated, and the ways or ability to deal with them shifts. Just part of the evolution of living with this " lovely " disorder! All the best with this. Keep us posted! Warmly, Barb > > > Thank you Barb. Will definitely go slow.
