Shirley,

Just spoke with a nurse briefly. They took down more information for court

proceedings to keep her there for at least an additional two weeks. My sense

of this Geriatric Behavioral Unit is a good one. There are visiting hours two

times each day of the week, as well as longer times on weekends. They

encourage family participation. The only hard part will be to not be there the

final

week as I will be traveling to and from Wisconsin. I will work that out with

them and hope it doesn't lead to any problems. Sounds like they have a very

supportive after care network and have already told me they will help each

step of the way, whether I decide to place her in 24 hr care or not. They will

be calling later today, but for now, are on their way in to give Mom the hugs

sent over the phone. There is no other word that describes how I feel than

humble. So much has happened since my ego got out of the way. Yes, it even

allowed the angels to show in all their glory. Amazing how so much light can

come

from the darkness.

Hugs,

Betty

Shirley,

Yes, I have a brother. My mom lived with him from for a few years in the

late 90's when we had a falling out. This is when her symptoms began to show.

It was the constant drinking that I am sure allowed " Lewy " out before his time.

I did include my brother when I did POA, etc. I have kept him abreast of

Mom's last commitment as well as what has happened since up to yesterday

afternoon. I have, as yet, never received a response to anything other than her

heart attack in May when he did come once to the hospital. Not a word since.

My

ex was so very good with my mom but he's in another world also and haven't

heard from him in a while. I did call to let him know what was happening, as I

would hope he could visit her during her stay. No answer yet. Her boyfriend

still comes to check on her regularly, but the last two times she has asked him

to leave or just led him to the door. Going to give him a call today. He

might want to ride up with me and then see her again while I am in WI. This has

been difficult for both my sons. As great as they have been with their

Grandma Marge, I can see them distancing themselves lately. They are not so

great

at expressing their grief. I really don't see them being a great support

system, but, who knows. Certainly not me. That's it. All Mom's surviving

family

are far away and elderly themselves.

I will take what I have and do the best I can today. I will not worry of the

fog that may cloud my way. There is a beacon burning which I know will guide

me, when I allow the guidance to begin. Sometimes the true search begins

with stillness and silence. So many lessons, such wonderful people here to help

get through them. Thanks for being here today. I really sense the love and

prayers. Wish you were going to La Crosse, too. Will keep you close by,

throughout. Maybe we will be connected by computer also. This will be

interesting, to say the least.

How's the Bay today? Not too gray, I pray.

Hugs,

Betty

Betty,

I know I haven't been keeping up on all the posts lately but are

there other family members who can visit mom while you are gone?

Keeping you and everyone else in my thoughts and prayers, Shirley

Jo, my advice is to take Ibuprofen 800mg every six hours and the

vicodin every four hours. I had to do that all weekend one time when

I was on call with an abcessed tooth. THey work better together.

Jo,

Glad you're finally giving in and getting your teeth done so you don't

have to worry about them anymore! I hate that tooth ache feeling where

it just seems like your entire head is throbbing! Hope they give you

the happy gas (the kind that makes you fall asleep, not the kind that

you blame poor innocent children and dogs for!)

*love & hugs*

-----------------------

Thanks Marta...I've already been staggering the pain meds. I'm just

trying to stay away from asprin because of bleeding.

5 teeth were pulled and a temp. partial was made for my upper

teeth. So I wouldn't have such a jack-o-lantern look...lol...hey

I've got a running start on my halloween costume! They had the

partial made and in my mouth by 5pm...pretty darn good.

I'm a bit swollen so I'm applying an icepack 20min on, 20 off. Some

bruising settling in...I hurt/sore...but so far not too bad. I was

in more pain before the extractions. I hope my remarkable ability

to heal well continues! I'm doing implants, so this is going to be

at least a 6mo to 1 year process. None of my extractions were

simple or straight forward. One was rather unique. One of the

root limbs had broken off from the tooth and traveled along my

palate (spell?). I have stitches all over the place. But because

they were " surgical " extractions with bone grafting, I don't have

that cotton packing and the bleeding going on. All and all, once

the teeth were out it hasn't been too bad...I hope that continues

through the night. The doc did say he was amazed at how well I

handled it. Said he didn't expect me to be doing so well so fast

when I was getting the partial placed. I give thanks to God for not

thinking I needed to learn some special lessons today...lol...like

DON'T let your dental work get soooo bad before seeking help.

I'm hoping this will take care of the constant headaches and sinus

pain I've been having this year. And most of all I hope I end up

with a pretty smile and not some freakish horse teeth look.

Marta...you will be honest with me, won't you?

Hugs

Jo

I'm hoping I will be reading all about your new job very soon and it

was a good, productive, fulfilling day.

Jo,

I am having pain in my teeth as we speak. ugh. My benefits start

October first, and I hope that includes dental, just in case.

I only get paid once each month, at the end of the month, so I will

have to put off any work that needs to be done.

I love my job so far. But then, I haven't actually done anything

yet! lol

Poor Jo! My teeth are hurting just reading about your discomfort!

I'll keep you in my prayers that everything gets fixed and gives you

some relief and that you don't have to take out a second mortgage to

pay for it.

Hugs!

Hello All

Just a quick email to let all know I am still alive and some what well. Hope

this finds the rest of the family at Stilligan's doing much better. I have

not been able to read much of my emails of late. Been difficult to find time

or to be able to sit up for very long.

Been busy since the holidays ended getting ready for surgery on my ears

again. And for me to start school (did that one on wedensday).

Also wanted to let all know that my eldest daughter Chantele has been accept

to Lycoming College in Pennsylvania. So we have finally gotten the college

she wanted and along with that came a $36,000 scholarship. Just got her

papers back from financial aid and she quals for a full Pell Grant so that

will make it much easier for her to get her education. Now all I have to

cover is the spending money and the incidentals of going to college.

Best go find my way back to the couch before I get in trouble with the hubby

for being up when I said I would stay on the couch.

Will write more later.
