Guest guest
Hi My 5 year old had a sudden onset of OCD last April. She has symptoms of Pandas such as separation anxiety, issues around urinating when it first appeared, sensory issues, night time distress, modd swings, temper tantrums. The OCD is also very episodic. We are in the UK and PANDAS is not well recognised. I went to see the paediatrician yesterday who has agreed to blood test my ghter when the OCD kicks in again as we are on a good spell now. However she has advised me that the 1 of the 5 criteria used to form a diagnosis in the UK is the appearance of tics or sudden movements. My daughter does not have these as far as I can see. Can anyone who has a PANDAS child let me know if these are essential? I have read conflicting information. I think we will struggle to get help without this according to my meeting. The doctor also advised me that the treatment of antibiotics is for 5 years and so they will not enter this lightly. Is this correct? PANDAS is highly controversial here. I have struggled to get help for the OCD alone never mind PANDAS, so any advice would be of great help. Thanks JJ
