Guest guest
I haven't posted or been on an a while and I read this and wonder what the heck is going on. I have come to realize over the years that I see things very differently from most other people I come across. I went through long periods of time where I thought there was something wrong with me, then I spent some time thinking it was everyone else. I now realize that we all see it in our own way and some of us are just a little more out there. (I am one of the latter) I think as long as we all have our children and the community first in our priorities we will be OK. I know that I cannot be the activist type, but I value the people who are. I also know that rather than volunteer for every organized fart my daughter's school runs, I prefer to go to the events and enjoy them with my kids. Yet, I know the parents who do volunteer for everything think they are so much better than everyone else. I also watch a lot of these moms and don't agree with some things, but you have to know where they are coming from. I sometimes get annoyed when I hear people ranting about autism but I know where they are coming from and that I don't have to agree with every single thing they say. I respect the fact that they are out there getting us heard which is something I couldn't do. Quick Abby's dad...say something stupid to make every one laugh. , you seem to have a wonderful sense of humor and if there is one thing in 16 years of parenting that I have learned it's that a sense of humor is as essential as food and water to my family. One of the things that makes us laugh most is when my daughter has a difficult time with word retrieval and we all try to guess what the heck she is trying to say. It gradually gets louder and louder as we all yell out guesses. Finally someone gets it and we all yell. I know that some people would probably be horrified by that little game, but for us it works. So, I think what I am trying to say is that we need to have tolerance, for ourselves and eachother. Terri Re: Oprah Message Board-PLEASE WRITE THEM! I'm sick to effing death of all the effing parents acting like autism is THEM THEM THEM THEM THEM THEM THEM THEM THEM. Alison Singer, Suzanne and , and all the rest of the WAAH WAAH I CANT GET A BAGEL crew can kiss my autistic ass. It's April fourth and I'm already sick of the mommies on a mission for hysteria.
