Guest guest
Hi believe it or not, a few days. I was in a bad way, waiting for my psychiatrists appointment to ask/ beg for zoloft. I had tried prozac before and it made me feel horrible. But after a few days on 5-htp and mag taurate I felt like my very habituated, broken record watching my body ocd brain had stopped and I could be in reality again. I can't imagine an ssri working any better. At least for me. You cannot take 5-htp with ssris, but mag taurate, and the other supplements I believe you can. I " m also giving my 11 year old with ocd the mag taurate and inositol, it seems to help too. In a message dated 11/3/2010 9:24:50 A.M. My ocd is health anxiety and basically my brain being on a broken loop goign over the same things again and again. I am very sensitive to meds and was really contemplating takign them until I started really giving 5-htp a try. I find it helps incredibly. I ( an adult) take 300 mgs a day. along with a large dose of magnesium taurate, inositol, theanine and melatonin. I think the melatonin helps the ocd also for some reason. There is a protocol on safe harbor alternative mental health. My daughter is getting better with CBT. Please look into that protocol. I was in quite a bad way..but getting better. Blessings to you all. I know how you struggle. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Guest guest
No she isn't on any other meds. She still has issues with things that drive me crazy , like changing clothing. Do any other OCD parents have this issue? She has " house clothing " she will wear until it is painted with drips, stains, tears, holes, and I have to BEG her to change it. I know it is OCD behaviour, not simply being a slob! which I hate to say-

Guest guest
I am curious to hear more about melatonin. I have recently heard that it interferes with hormones in children and should not be used bin addition my understanding was always that it should be used for no more that a few weeks at a time. Any info you have would be great. I would definitely love to learn more. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone > HI > > I and my daughter both have OCD. Guest guest
Thanks . He just started Zoloft yesterday so I guess the 5-htp is out if the question. Wish I had known about it sooner, maybe I just missed a posting on it. The last couple of weeks have been extremely difficult....I'm suprised I know my name. Is your 11 yr old on any other meds? Guest guest
, I'm glad that combo is working for you, thanks for sharing it! Way back when was on inositol, at that 13-14 grams dose, I tried adding 5HTP for him too, but didn't go well so I stopped it. Probably too much between the two, I'm guessing, at the doses or something. He just got hyper, practically had insomnia, and this was my couch potato son. We tried theanine separately a couple or so years ago. Did a calcium-magnesium comb too. I've wondered if maybe I should have tried a combination at the same time, we would just try one supplement at a time and wait to see, not work, switch, etc. So thanks for sharing your combination, may have to sneak that in somehow with as a combination to try.... > > HI > > I and my daughter both have OCD. Guest guest
I wonder if any of the behaviors seemed tic-like? Just that I've read magnesium helps with tics, for those who test low in it. > > Yes. I understand. this is pretty much huge doses of magnesium taurate, I > tried SO many types of magnesium.
