Guest guest
Dear Liana, It does get better. Our son too had the same thoughts without the compulsions. My son thought about stabbing us and the dogs. He obsessed about sexual things. We were very scared because his obsessions were so disturbing. We too cried and were devastated. Medication has been the key for us. The first SSRI made him too hyper and weird. I almost gave up on meds. it was so bad. The second worked within 1 week (although I'm told this fast response is not typical so don't be discouraged if it takes longer). He takes Celexa. He also responds well to Lexapro. The SSRI meds do wear off after some time so you need to switch. You can then go back on them later. We are on our second round of Celexa. When our 6yr. old started obsessing this fall (OCD again), we went through the grieving process all over. In fact, I was downright pissed off! She has not responded so quickly to SSRI meds. Her obsessions are counting. Also, check into PANDAS. Many more on this list know more than I do about this. You can go to www.pandasnetwork.org. Kara, on this list, can guide you. There is also PANDAS information in the files. A new PANDAS yahoo group has started. Blessings to you and your family, Becky in North Dakota
