Debi we have always told abby it is a part of her but does not define all of who she is. its part of how everyone is different. and shes fine with it. i think it helps to know so the child knows why she is the way she is, and that theres nothing wrong with being different. eric abbys dad ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Hi all, Thanks for your responses so far. I don't need to be sold on the value of disclosing a diagnosis to someone,, but I would like input about how to help the parents I mentioned see the value in it. Also, does anyone know of good Yahoo lists and publications for the twenty year old to use as resources, assuming the parents do decide to tell her? Kassi, do you think Shore would be willing to talk to the parents by phone? Does he do that sort of consulting? Thanks again, Melinda ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
does that sort of consulting, yes. His email address is on his website, and it can all be set up from there. He'd have way more ideas about talking to parents about it than I do, I just kinda tell parents that they need to do it 10 years ago...and that doesn't go over too well...or I use crappy analogies, like wouldn't they want to know if they had (some difference) and that's why their way is different?
