Guest guest
Yes, I'm talking about Melatonin. Personally, I think Benadryl is a safer, first choice, for helping to sleep. Not that it is problem free, but more is known about it. Plus, Melatonin falls under the category of supplements, so is unregulated by the FDA. Therefore the strength and purity can vary. There are concerns about children taking Melatonin and what affect it has on their hormones. There are also concerns that it might contribute to seizures. But, for us, the Benadryl (after years of working) stopped working. So, we opted to try Melatonin. Because not sleeping is not a good thing either. It has worked for our son, but he only takes it as needed now, instead of daily. Here are a few links about Melatonin. . http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/melatonin-side-effects/an01717 With this link you need to scroll down to " Safety " http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/patient-melatonin.html With this link, you need to click on the tabs, " side effects " and " interactions " ***Note that it interacts with Luvox, often used in children with OCD*** http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-940-MELATONIN.aspx?acti\ veIngredientId=940 & activeIngredientName=MELATONIN Not trying to scare anyone, but it's best to be informed. And it is always best to have the doctor on board too.
