I'm not sure what you mean by feeling like you look stupid. I have

lost a lot of ability to write with my left hand, I've been left

handed but this past semester began writing with my right. I also

started having seizures last summer & my left eye began drooping, but

stopped drooping when I went on the antileptics. I'm also having a big

problem with short-term to long-term memory, organic chem has been a

nightmare trying to memorize all the different molecules. I think I

may have failed it. That said, I don't know if all the memory issues

are condition/drug related or just getting older, I'm nearly 36.

Wow, I'm impressed with what you're doing. Going to school with the

cognitive deficits must be really difficult. The thought of going to school

goes out the window since I can't retain anything. Even going to autism

conferences is difficult since it's hard to keep up with the note taking &

remembering what it was that I heard. I can see how organic chem was a

nightmare; it was hard enough when I took it way back when, when I went to

nursing school.

How do you take notes if you're a lefty & writing with your right?

I can't remember, but are you the one going to nursing school?

I guess looking " stupid " is my self esteem issue? If I can't respond as

quickly or the way I want to, it bothers me.

Yes, I start nursing school in the fall. I just found out I made a C

in organic, couldn't be more thrilled!! I have taught myself to write

with my right hand. It's amazing how much better it looks with my

right, even though I've been a heavy lefty.

I'm in the process of weaning off my depakote. While it helped

immensely at first, I've gained 30lbs in the last six mos, after

losing weight steadily for a year before. I wonder if some of my fuzzy

headedness will resolve; my blood sugar has also gone up after being

under control. I'm gonna see if the seizures return or not, perhaps

it's been long enough. I'm also considering some dietary stuff.

As to responding, I'm such a jokester we laugh a lot about my

faux-paus. I also enjoy have found a benefit for people perceiving me

as dingy -- you can get by with a lot more!

debbie I to noticed of my own left eye drooping in the eye lid areas as

it is of sometimes touching the center or black dot of my eye and the

other eye lids is still in the white parts of my eye. it is not a

severe drop but a noticed one and usually is of more so when tired and

not resting well. what causes of that? the mother of me had of this too

and not know why but had to have an eye lift or tuck to repair of it. I

to worry as medically I to be doing much of the same process as the

mother of me in health things and so fear of getting parkinsons and I

to know some to say cant get it because the mother has of it but it

still fears me of her medical history things. I to not want to be of

anythings like of my mother in life as it is of painful to me to have

nay reflection of her but in the mirror it is as if seeing the mother

there in imagage of her years ago. I to not have her heart though and

I to not have her ways of being and so take of much pride to that. Yet

at same am some like of the mother of me scary but true.

I to be to going to go to a DAN doctor soon to begin of biomedical

things to me as a Dr. Demio has just comed to my areas of living now

and so now can pursue of this for the frist time to me.

I don't know what causes the drooping eyelid. For me, it started when

I started having seizures. I guess when we get tired though many body

parts feel the strain. My eyelid feels worse than it looks, but it is

noticeable to others. I still wonder if I have MS sometimes. I also

have bladder problems that surgery last summer didn't fully correct &

it seems to come & go. My scattered labs might be indicative of that

but I have a normal MRI so far.

<sigh> Sure ain't fun gettin old!

I hope your DAN! can help you fix some of your problems.

Marie I have been going thru the same testing. My ANA levels are sometimes

high and then other times nonexistent. My doctor has been confused as well. He

feels I have lupus and I tend to agree with him. I see a rhumatologist at the

end of this month, I am eager to see what he says. The brain fog and fatigue

are the worst parts. Pain I can deal with, memory loss is what scares me. I

will think of something and something else comes out of my mouth. Very

frustrating.

Hello Ladies, My mom has lupus and would gladly talk to any of you about her

condition, if you want her email or phone number, email me and I will send if

off to you.

I know they had a hard time diagnosing her and she was also diagnosed with

fibermyalgia at first.

My grandma also has lupus so I worry about getting it to because I am already

having some symptoms.

My mom also was diagnosed with CML (chronic myeloid leukemia) in Feb. of 2004

Sorry if my spelling is bad I am not very good at spelling medical things.

She has done great with the leukemia and instead of her cells being high they

are way too low and they think the lupus is causing her more problems then the

leukemia.

Debi & Sondra,

Have either of you looked into the possibility of ophthalmic ptosis? I have

it, and it can easily be hereditary (goes back 5 known generations in my

family). I do not know if it commonly can be experienced in only one eye, but

I

do have one that bothers me more than the other. The usual treatment is a

tuck at the hairline and above the eye, so that the eyelid can be raised to a

functional height.

Most of the women (and one man) in my family for the past 5 generations have

had to have eye tucks once, and some twice, during their lifetime to be able

to function. I haven't had my first yet, but I'll need it with 1-2 years.

My Mom is talking about having her second.
