Guest guest
Hi All, My 6 year old started the Daytrana Patch last May. She was overweight at 75 lbs. The purpose of the Daytrana was to help her focus and slow down and we saw great results! She's still on the initial dose and academically thriving. Social too. Here's my concern -- she's lost about 13 lbs, which we are very excited about. Her weight loss was the result of decreased appetite. She's very self limiting what she will eat, but she continued to enjoy the small variety of foods she allows herself. At the start of the school year, she started refusing lunch at school. Same foods as at home, which she ate with gusto. I attributed that to being in the cafeteria for the first time and it must be overwhelming for her. She's not verbal enough to actually tell me what the problem is. About a month ago she began refusing many of her favorite foods and her appetite is still decreased. She's now put herself on the " beige diet " eating only white food -- mostly mashed potatoes. She will request applesauce or baby food bananas to earn mashed potatos. She says she wants X,Y,Z for dinner and then refuses to eat it. Hours later she asks for chips or popcorn. I can sometimes negotiate a pancake into her. We have an appointment with a nutritionist in Feb. (the soonest she could get in) that our insurance will not cover. Any insight here would be very appreciated! Has anyone encountered this problem, what helped? Delia needs to stay on the Daytrana patch, she will not take anything orally and on the rare occasion she gets sick, I have to hide her meds in her juice.
