OCD or ADD or both?

Hello all--

My son was diagnosed in September 2009 with OCD. His OCD is not the typical

" flavor " but involves more touching and mental compulsions. (called " touretic

OCD " ) He's on 100 mg Zoloft (down from a peak of 175 mg). ERP not only did not

have much of an effect (which is somewhat common in " touretic OCD " ) , but

created more stressors in our family. (His sister was diagnosed with a

depression at around the same time). Counterintuively, when we " toned down " the

ERP, he seemed to be less stressed and actually improved somewhat. He's doing

better now then he was 4-6 months ago, but still has clinical symptoms. He's a

bright kid but hardly concentrates in school (he says he is doing his " habits " ).

He'll scribble nonsense on a test even when he knows the answer because of his

" habits. " Many times he forgets to bring his homework assignment from school.

Every morning he pleads with us not to go to school.

My questions are: is the lack of attention, focus and ocncenrtation secondary to

the OCD or can my son also have ADD/ADHD? Who would be the best person to do a

total evaluation of my son to see if there are additional or co-morbid

conditions? A developmental pediatrician? A psychiatrist? My son is currently

seeing a spychiatrist for med management and a social workers for cognitive and

ERP therapy. But no one to date has suggested an overall evaluation.We also saw

Dr. Trifilleti to rule out PANDAS (all testing, with the exception of an

antibody to flagellum bacteria, came out negative -- we will probably also do

Cunnimgham test) If anyone knows of a good developpmental pediatrician in

northern NJ who deals with these conditions I wouild greatly appreicate hearing

from you.
