Guest guest
Ours was a pad made up of fun fur on one side and corduroy on the other. Sandwiched in between, they sewed pockets closed at the top with Velcro. Each pocket contained a removable pouch filled with poly pellets (you could make your own and use a different filling). Allie loved the furry and rough textures of the different sides, and I loved that it was completely washable! It was great when I'd hear Allie sigh with pleasure as she pulled it over herself. She had a lap sized version that she took to school, and they also made vests. Sandi (Allie's Mom) Houston **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. Guest guest
Ooh, I've heard of that too. Some people add dried herbs for a stress reducing aroma therapy. My SIL gave a neck cushion to me for Christmas that I can heat in the microwave. It has a light smell of lavender and herbs when I heat it, and it smushes into shape around my neck like a down pillow. Very nice. As one who sews, I've seen the good ones from Southpaw, that would be the kind I would like if the materials are safe, but they are very expensive. They look like they are very durable. Guest guest
I hope you read the ALERT from Autism One regarding weighted blankets being made from lead. It was posted by Sondra on our listserve. It would probably be best to hire a seamstress to make one for your shild. Guest guest
I wanted to clarify... I just bought the weights, as I made my own blanket from organic cotton that I knew would like. needs DEEP pressure, so the steel shot was better for us than other materials that are often used instead of lead. > We have one from here. Guest guest
They are really easy to make, just fill a small pillow case with beans or rice, about 2 pounds & sew the end shut. My granddaughter uses one & it seems to help. S
