Some background about me. Before being hit with a major flare of AOSD, I had some other health issues. I had asthma and I had 7 major and one minor operation in eight years (from age 16 to 24). 4 of those operations were on my knees. 1 on my Left knee (torn Cartlidge - Basketball injury), and 3 on my Right Knee (Misaligned - knee Cap since I was 10). On the 3rd operation on my right knee (2001) Arthritis was found and removed from my knee. The others were to remove a broken bone, 2 Laproscopic Surgeries for endometriosis and ovarian cysts, and wisdom teeth). I also had Migraines triggered by mentral cycle and/or stress. I had Graduated The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Agriculture (major: Agricultural Education, Minor: Production Agriculture and Agriculture Business) I was in my second year as a High School Ag Teacher in Northwest Ohio when the Still's Flare started. Before My Flare I worked 10 to 14 hours a day in order to do my job. The Still's Flare started in October 2004. It started with severe pain, swelling, and bruising in my left knee.That was origionally diagnosed as torn cartlidge and given vicodin for pain. Within a month I had severe pain and swelling in both knees, hips, and ankles (vicodin wasn't working so I was switched to Percoset). At this point I was in a wheelchair in order to get around) A week after that I started with nausea, fevers, headaches along with the severe pain and swelling in my legs. I ended up in the hospital for 4 days over Christmas 2004 when the pain got out of control. At that point My doctor recommended I see a rheumatologist. I called Cleveland Clinic and got an appointment (The appointment was for in Feb. 2005). January 20th the severe pain and swelling spread to my upper body (Shoulders, Elbows, wrists, hands, and ribs). The nausea, fevers, and headaches continued. At the end of January 2005 I broke out in a bad rash. Begining of Feb. 2005 I saw a rhuematologist at Cleveland Clinic. He ran a bunch of tests and said I had Adult Still's Disease. He put me on Plaquenil, Celebrex (it had worked wonders with my knee problems growing up) and continued Percoset. At the Begining of March I asked to be taken off Percoset, because I felt I was becoming addicted. They switched me to Darvocet. In May when I went back( The Meds had not helped) and the doctor Completely ignored me, told me he didn't think it was Adult Still's anymore, but he didn't know what was wrong. He then told me he wasn t going to do anything else to figure out what was wrong and to continue the Celebrex, Plaquenil, and Darvocet. After I contacted My Family Doctor and Was refered to the University of Michigan. In June I lost my job for faliure to complete requirement of my job (There was absolutely no way I could work 10 to 14 hour days, I couldn't make it through a school day a lot of days). In August, I went to the University of Michigan, 4 months of testing and trying various medications I was diagnoised in December 2005 with Adult Still's Disease (Again). At that time I was put on Methotrexate 15mg, I was to continue Salsalate 3000mg/day, and try to get off the Darvocet as I could I was also taking Prilosec OTC for my stomach (which has given me fits since December 2004). At my check up in Mid February I was doing a lot better. I was almost completely off the Darvocet, and I was able to walk with assistance (Cane and Service Dog). At this check up my Rhuematologist changed my Methotrexate from 15mg to 20mg. 4 days after my check up I was back in the ER with uncontrolable pain and back in the wheelchair. They gave me a Demerol Shot and my Doctor put me on Tramadol (which I ended up being allergic too). I was then switched to Percoset. Last week I was in the ER again with severe chest pain on the Left side and down my arm, I ended up with a severe case of Broncitis and Pluracy(?sp). I'm still in a lot of pain and a lot of swelling, but I m hoping after I'm done fighting this infection I'll get to feeling better, and out of the wheelchair again. I have read alot about Raw Milk and its benefits from the Weston site. I was able to get some raw milk from a friend of a friend last summer when people were on vacation and he had extra milk, but since then have not been able to find a reliable source. I have just lately found that I can buy Organic Pastures at our local health food store but it is 6.89 per half gallon (gulp!!) So I am looking for a source that is a little bit less expensive. I have 4 kids at home who I am trying to aclimate to drinking the raw milk. My daughters are willing but the boys are sticking up their noses, before they even try it. My grandfather and uncles were dairy farmers up in Idaho for years and I have fond memories of drinking that milk that was so fresh and tasty. All species of dairy animals are discussed, that's the goat cheese 'plus' the rest- cow, sheep, etc....
