Guest guest
Hi Leeanne... Good to have you here with us. I know that someone is going to ask sooner rather than later, so I will do it and get it over with... Why did you get banded in Tassie? Not that it is important, the important thing is that you are on your way. Welcome to our little band of merry bandits. Guest guest
Hello Mel Lovely to meet you Im originally from tassie and all my family are over there Plus after many enquiries I found it was cheaper in hobart than sydney...hehehe But the main thing was my family I don't know how I would have managed if I had been at home I went to my folks after a night in hosp and stayed there For 2 weeks I guess I imagined it would all be so easy But it has taken me a while to feel good again Maybe its my age....im 53yrs or maybe also I have chronic pain In hip n knee etc etc....very boring.... But im feeling pretty good now Just very tired all the time And sick of the ruddy soupppppp.......ahhhhhhhh I have spent a couple of days searching for a group Found one with a posting board but im so excited to have found this one Im so used to email groups and I did a little happy dance when I came across This group. Guest guest
Hi Leeanne - welcome to banded life. Good to hear Tassie has some surgeons doing this sort of thing as I hope to move down there in a couple of years and would be in strife if I had to fly to Melb for my fills. 4 weeks on soup is a long time - funny how all doctors have different post op care. Can you at least console yourself by making a few nice meals, put them through the blender and have them ready for the ush stage soon. I blended all sorts of concoctions. We have gatherings usually at least once a month, so do come along and introduce yourself. Ask any questions, even the gross ones. It was with the help of these sites that I discovered all about sliming and other delightful things - the doc sure doesn't mention this. We don't answer medical questions but with the number of members on board now, someone will definitely be able to give an experience or point you in a direction. Take care and good luck on your journey cheers Cherie > > > > Hello everyone > > > > Thankyou for letting me join > > > > Im Leeanne, live in Sydney and am 23 days post op > > > > I had my banding done in tassie > > > > Im on 4 weeks of the soupy stuff and am counting the days to have > something > > A bit more solid....groan.... > > > > Look forward to getting to know everyone > > > > Leeanne > > > > > Messages in this topic (0) Reply (via web post) | Start a new topic > Messages | Files | Photos | Database | Polls | Members | Calendar > PLEASE NOTE: If you experience any problems with any surgeons, doctors or > other health professionals and their Code Of Conduct at any stage of your > band journey, the arena you need to discuss this will be within the privacy > of their surgery or rooms, with them not us. > > This is not a forum to air any grievances or defame a professional persons' > reputation in any way, even if they have upset you immensely. Guest guest
My name is Annette. My daughter is 7 and will be 8 in Feb. She is autistic. We didn't find out what was really wrong until the first day of school. We knew she was different but our dr group didn't have a clue. Our ins wouldn't help us either- we are hoping to change this coming year to get a official assessment. Alissa didn't talk- so first we thought she might have been deaf. Nope! Her school did an amazing job with a fast assessment & development of a plan for her. She went into regular special education while they placed her on a list for the Lasso program. Now she is a blabber! Speech is coming faster than the wind for her. I can say I am amazed at how far she has come- and only in second grade! They thought she also had ADHD but her attention span is increasing like her vocabulary! We took her last week to see Alvin & the Chipmonks- while she bounced a bit- so did all the other kids in the theater- but she loved it- at one time no way would she ever have made it through!! I look forward to getting to know you all in this group- feel free to ask any questions- I love to chat but this is my first group!! thanks and god bless & merry christmas all Annette

Guest guest
Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) An aspartate aminotransferase (AST) test measures the amount of this enzyme in the blood. AST is normally found in red blood cells, liver, heart, muscle tissue, pancreas, and kidneys. AST formerly was called serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT). Low levels of AST are normally found in the blood. When body tissue or an organ such as the heart or liver is diseased or damaged, additional AST is released into the bloodstream. The amount of AST in the blood is directly related to the extent of the tissue damage. After severe damage, AST levels rise in 6 to 10 hours and remain high for about 4 days. The AST test may be done at the same time as a test for alanine aminotransferase, or ALT. The ratio of AST to ALT sometimes can help determine whether the liver or another organ has been damaged. Both ALT and AST levels can test for liver damage. Why It Is Done An aspartate aminotransferase (AST) test is done to: Check for liver damage. Help identify liver disease, especially hepatitis and cirrhosis. Liver disease may produce symptoms such as pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, and sometimes jaundice. Check on the success of treatment for liver disease. Find out whether jaundice was caused by a blood disorder or liver disease. Keep track of the effects of cholesterol-lowering medicines and other medicines that can damage the liver. How To Prepare To prepare for an aspartate aminotransferase (AST) test: Avoid strenuous exercise just before having this test done. Tell your doctor if you: Are taking any medicines. Many medicines can interfere with test results. Your doctor may instruct you to stop taking certain medicines for several days before having an AST test. Some herbs and natural products (such as echinacea and valerian) also can affect AST results. Are allergic to any medicines. Are or might be pregnant. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have regarding the need for the test, its risks, how it will be done, or what the results may mean. To help you understand the importance of this test, fill out the medical test information form(What is a PDF document?) . > > Why do liver enzymes go up with treatment? my ast keeps going up.... >
