Has anyone seen this month's Discover Magazine (April). Cover,

" Understanding Autism, the answer may lie in the Gut, not the head " . I

thought it was very interesting would love to know what others thought.

It's an absolutely fabulous article, which I highly recommend. It's

so nice to see environmental issues and research mentioned for a

change. I was so pleased to see the likes of Dr. Martha Herbert and

Dr. Pardo-Villamizar quoted, rather than the usual

knuckleheads that are so often quoted. I made copies and distributed

it everywhere I could think of.

Dear ,

Even though I have not read this article, I have been on the

enzymes in autism yahoo list for many years. There is a definite link

between the gut (considered the body’s second brain) and the brain. Clean up

the gut with digestive enzymes and probiotics, then possibly you can reduce

a lot of behaviors associated with disorders and auto immune problems. My

daughter has been on digestive enzymes for many years. We were able to clear

up many of her tantrums and SIB by eliminating gut issues associated with

foods like casein in milk and wheat. Now, as a teenager, she can eat foods

that she could not tolerate when she is younger. If you are interested in

checking out this issue, check out HYPERLINK

I agree. Allie became verbal within a week of eliminating dairy,

within 2 mos she had over 100 words. She is now eating these foods,

has taken digestive enzymes, and I hope to get them back in her as

soon as we get her pill-able. I'm afraid if we try to mix in water

she'll stop drinking, she won't drink juice & she won't eat soft foods

except very, very limited basis.
