I agree Becky. I hate taking my son out. I've been making the psychiatrist

appts at 11. He has lunch at 11, so he only misses 20 minutes or so of

class--BUT he's still leaving the classroom.

Subject: Celexa/hyper & ERP for obsessions

My 6yr old dd saw psychiatrist the other day for 3 week checkup. She has mild

improvement with Celexa so we are increasing. As to her hyperness (she keeps

getting in trouble at school for giggling, talking, rough housing on the floor,

not attending), he proposed that possibly she is not so nervous anymore, so now

she can be the clown and act out without so much fear of getting into trouble. I

agreed that was a possibility. He also said that maybe she has adhd and it's

coming out because we have some of the anxiety under control. I told him I am

not ready to go " there " yet. We called a psychologist from his office and he

asked her to squeeze Malina into her caseload for ERP. She agreed. Now I'm

worried about taking her out of school even more..it just sets them apart from

their peers more. I wish these therapists understood how difficult it is to

constantly be removing our kids from class, it makes them stand out and raises

questions among their peers: questions we don't want to answer!

So, I'm calling the psychologist tomorrow, hopefully scheduling on a day off

from school, and hoping she can teach me how to do ERP at home so we don't need

to come to her every week (keep in mind, we live an hour away from her office so

this will be a 3 hour ordeal every week).

I know you all feel the same way, I just totally don't want to do this again!

Blessings,

Becky

PS. Thanks, in NC for the book suggestions.
