Guest guest
Wow , you win the early dx award! That's great that you were able to get them started so early. Welcome, I'm Debi, mom to Jess 10, Allie 8 with ASD, and Dinah 5. Reading you living in NYC reminded me of Maurice's book. Debi

Guest guest
Welcome ! I ditto Debis reply about the early diagose. That is great! And that you are in EI so soon! My daughter has a dx of PDD-NOS but that was when she was 2 1/2. We are going in february to see about a high-functioning dx. To help with services. It is tricky here is CA. I also have three other children who are NT and that I am extremely grateful. Guest guest
Thanks for the warm welcome! We were very lucky, and we have a good ped. When the girls weren't hitting their milestones for tripod sitting, cruising, walking, etc. He recommended that I have them evaluated. When the evals were done, the EI psych started throwing around terms like " PDD " , and when I mentioned it to the ped (obviously concerned) he sort of " pooh-pooh'd " it, saying, " your kids don't have PDD " . It took me a while to come to terms with the dx. But once I did, I was very involved with the girls' EI therapy services. When we went for our first IFSP, the EIOD actually asked me if I was in the field I was able to speak to the girls' progress so well. In NYC, its gotten very tricky recently to get services from EI. I've seen kids who are seriously impaired get rejected for services. We really were in the right place at the right time. Now that the girls are under the NYC Board of Ed (CPSE), it's a whole new ballgame and I'm struggling with that. - _____ From: Autism_in_Girls [mailto:Autism_in_Girls ] On Behalf Of Albrecht Rebekah Sent: Saturday, December 29, 2007 2:29 AM To: Autism_in_Girls Subject: Re: Intro from new member Welcome !
