Guest guest
Well, things have been going very well and then today, it happened. A girl threw up in 's class. He hasn't stopped talking about it all evening. His religious school teacher called to tell that though he was doing a good job, he seemed distracted and day dreaming. He even asked to do exposures. He's on the verge of panic. I went in his room to go through the socratic questions (reality testing) and he asked me in the best way he could to please leave him and let him think through it. I tried to probe his thinking (wondering if he's trying to reassure himself that he won't throw up, are there mental exercises at play?), but he didn't want to talk about it. This very same scenario happened 6 yrs ago and was the start of our journey through therapy, meds, psychiatrists ect... The same obsessive thoughts (about throwing up)led to school refusal and agoraphobia. The frequent requests for reassurance are more sophisticated, but they're there. I've been told he does have OCD and later that he doesn't have OCD. What is this then? Bonnie
