Guest guest
I am wondering if anyone's child has been treated at New YOrk State Psychiatic Institute for OCD issues. My daughter had been going there for a few months and I was so very disappointed at the quality of child psychology there. I felt the psychologist assigned to her had no passion or interest in treating my 10 year old who hoards garbage. The psychologist could well have been a junior high school guidance counselor rather than someone qualified to treat OCD/hoarding issues for all the advice she gave me, such as " mom, you are the mother, you make the decisions " , WHy do you need a phd in psychology to dish that out? They were very cold, and I felt that we were treated like laboratory mice rather than human beings. The psychologist would not respond when I said that perhaps she needed to actuallly tell my daughter more about herself and break the ice to begin to form a trusting relationship. It was as though I speaking to inhuman machines. ANyone else know this institute? I would not recommend for children with ocd issues at all. They basically said my daughter wouldn't open up because seh had another therapist she sees who is an MSW, who does no type of CBT work at all. TO make it my daughter's fault rather than a LACK of sincere passionate interest on their part is just bad.
