Our son is 10, and we chose not to pursure the medication options at least

initially, despite pressure from one psychologist and support from another. He

is diagnosed OCD and Aspergers early this year, (along with selective mutism) so

its hard to separate which behaviors are ocd driven and which Aspergers. We use

pet play therapy, home behavior point-reward system with ERP at home along with

some helpful books recommended by one of our psychologists who supports our

non-medication approach at this point. I think it is a personal decision and

there are a lot of factors to consider in deciding which advice to follow and

which course of therapy to pursue. I think this group is very helpful with

support and providing real information from individuals coping and learning

first hand which techniques have proven effective, and which have not worked for

them. My husband also deploys frequently, and with frequent moves it makes it

difficult to maintian a stable

environment that would suppport less anxiety in which to combat many of these

issues. I am on the other side of the country, but I can understand some of the

complications that a military lifestyle can have on our kids and ourselves. GOD

Bless. -teresa
